Executive SummaryFormerly as the Executive Director of the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (WVWA) I presided over a revival and transformation of an old guard conservation organization with an outstanding legacy of nearly 60 years of preserving open space, protecting natural resources and addressing water quality issues to a dynamic conservation leader in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. With nearly 1300 acres preserved and a 13 plus mile Green Ribbon Mail, the WVWA has been a leader in the region. We launched Suburban Wilderness with a mantra of research, restore and re-wild with a vision of managing wildlands amid a man-made landscape. We added 25 acres of open space in 2015-16, doubled our budget in just three years, and added 4 new employees. In the first collaboration of its kind on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the WVWA under my leadership persuaded all 16 watershed towns and 4 sewer authorities to develop a Total Maximum Daily Load Alternative Plan with support of the USEPA and PADEP. All this to improve the water quality of the Wissahickon Creek in the not too distant future. Another first, the WVWA was the recipient of a Regional Conservation Need grant to restore habitat for the Baltimore Checkerspot, a fast declining butterfly species. I am a professional conservationist with a broad grasp of the key environmental issues and realities in the Northeast. My career spans over 25 years of passionate dedication to improving the environment by converting vision into reality and producing measurable and proven results consistently. As an inspiring and enthusiastic speaker, I have helped the public get back in touch with nature for years and have empowered grassroots movements to champion the cause of conservation locally. I am also available as a freelance consultant where my diverse professional experience may be an invaluable resource for a potential client.
