I served with the Royal Air Force for 23 years predominantly as a Physical Training Instructor. Whilst specialising in Military Parachuting Training, I had the privilege of managing one of the world’s premier Military Training Schools, the Military Training Flight at No1 PTS.As a freefall specialist I was a member of a small team responsible for training members of the British Special Forces in High Altitude Low Opening and High Opening Parachuting. This role involved creating and shaping the syllabus, coordinating overseas training and acting as a freefall coach to the students. Additionally I served as the camera flyer for the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team with responsibility for Public Relations including my claim to fame training 2 Blue Peter presenters. As part of the Defence Establishment Research Agency (DERA) I project managed a number of Parachute Trials. This role included budget management, procurement, and product design through to being the first test jumper.Since leaving the RAF I have worked in the third sector supporting young people in need of additional support and guidance.I live happily in Dunbar Scotland. I remain active and enjoy surfing and running although not as fast as in my past.
