Dennis Osadebe Studio is an independently run studio by visual artist Dennis Osadebe, which is based in Lagos, Nigeria. The studio is dedicated to creating works that are centered around the idea of reimagining Africa through the use of positive, provocative and progressive imagery, and narratives. This is achieved by mixing traditional materials and crafts with technology and new media. The aspect of the traditional materials and crafts, such as Masks and colorful textiles, are inspired by historic arts and culture of Nigeria. The new media aspect highlights the dynamic role technology is increasingly playing in changing our experience of the world today. By juxtaposing elements of the past (using the African heritage as a starting point) alongside the present, we aim to embody a futuristic Africa and it’s limitless possibilities.
