About Dennis Pennings

I've always liked the bridge between Technlogy and management and I think I can translate the business to products/solutions quite well. I started out as a sysop, ICT manager at Baas & Roost and started an ICT company 7Summits ICT with Baas & Roost. After I left 7Summits ICT, i started 360 ICT in 2007 and co-founded thegood.cloud, where I work today. Even with my management duties, I try to spend half of my time on Technology, which I can say succeeds. I also get a high from working with driven people. 20 years experience with Microsoft products, but currently working at thegood.cloud and working with OSS mostly: Linux, Ceph.io, Kubernetes, Nextcloud, etc.

    Due to concerns about how privacy is handled by the big US companies we decided to push back a little. We have a privacy friendly cloud service based on a file sync and share platform for Nextcloud.com, but is transitioning in a more Office365/GoogleWorkspace alternative. We use exciting opensource technology here, like Ceph.io as distributed storage and Kubernetes.io as a container platform, among other things like Gitlab, Prometheus and Proxmox all on our own hardware as a true private cloud. Transitioning to these technologies is an awesome ride!

    Intramed Online hosts a RemoteApp for thousands of users. With an other engineer we designed and managed the infrastructure for this network. It was based on Citrix PS4, Windows RDS 2008R2 and currently is transitioning to Windows 2019 RDS on hyper-v. It also holds a large loadbalanced VPN solution, lots of Kemp loadbalancers, multiple Pervasive SQL clusters, spans 2 datacenters and has a Sophos UTM solution in place.In 2018 I transitioned my role from CTO to CTO advisory role as I found other pursuits.
