I had the responsibility of running Jim’s Removals, Jim’s Store It and Jim’s Porta Box for the State and also branch manager of Western Self Storage at Camden Park. As the controlling Franchisor, my role was to oversee the day-to-day running of my removal and storage franchisees by our policies and agreements, assist with marketing the company as an individual franchisee and as the franchisor as a whole, negotiate sub-contractors arrangements, sell additional franchisees, auditing franchises operations and non-performance issues, customer satisfaction, provide sales training and business guidance to franchisees, and liaise with the Jim’s Group; across senior management and to the directors.Within a short period, I was promoted to General Manager of Jim’s Removals Australia and commenced expanding the removal and storage franchise territories in Australia with Jim’s Removals and Jim’s Porta Box (mobile storage containers). We commenced the Victorian operations not long after with two new Jim’s Removals Franchise; throughout my time I added a total of eight new removal franchisees in Victoria, 4/8 were sold to one major company plus the exclusive rights for the entirety of Metropolitan Melbourne for the Jim’s Porta Box Franchise, a major step for our company. I was awarded the Golden Medal for Excellence in Franchise Support three years running as voted by my franchises and achieved every sales target set by my Directors.

I grew this business from its initiation in Adelaide to a major contributor to the Grace Group. My duties included full P&L responsibilities including operations in multiple locations (warehousing, transportation & logistics), branches performance and expenditure, administration and operational staffing, pick and pack, deliveries, staff toolbox meetings, customer services and satisfaction, administration, occupational health & safety, security, facilities management, capital expenditure, performing all sales with strong negotiation and stakeholder management, Top 50 client focus and contract retention management, data integrity and end-of-month reporting. Continued growth of the client base came through sourcing sales from company businesses locally and nationally, Local and State Government Departments, and small to large corporation sectors by way of relationship building, networking, tendering, acquisitions and partnering with service providers that have a strategic benefit to the growth of the Grace Group. My highlights that were recognised by my peers were the GRM National Awards introduced in 2007 that I was awarded, before the GRM management structural change in 2011. These were: Best Operational Performance 2008 – Best Financial Performance 2009 – Best Capital City Sales Performance 2010. During my time with Grace, I implemented several services and continuous quality improvements within the business such as the Certification of Quality Management Procedures ISO90001-2000 upgraded to ISO90001-2008 then finally proceeded to the new Integrated Business Management System incorporating QMP, OH&S and the Environment with site certification gained in 2012. In the year 2009, I was promoted to Senior Site Manager which included the Grace Removals Business including the Secured Custom’s Quarantine area. In 2011 I took the responsibility of managing the Darwin operations and in September 2013 I was made State Manager of the Northern Territory as well.

Commenced working for Chubb part-time co-ordinating the start-up of a new off-site storage of client back-up computer tapes and courier service and established sales of new clients to add to the service. Promoted to full time after the first month and several more times as the business strengthened. I managed the implementation of four additional services to the business: Data Escrow Agreements, Confidential Waste Destruction Services, Records Management Services and Electronic Counter Measures Services for the State Government. Significant Achievements:Results exceeded the Budget & EBIT requirements for each year for each service they were introduced and every year there afterwards. Records Management Service achieved 120% of the warehouse storage capacity within first year of operation.

In 1992 I created my own indoor Volleyball game and competition by converting a standard Squash Court, designed with the use of netting covering over the roof and upper viewing area to keep the ball in play and using the walls as part of the court. It is a very fast and exciting team sport with a higher participation rate per player and continuous ball play than normal Volleyball.
