Mission Instructor (Digital Literacy/Ged/Citizenship)
Current
International Math Teacher
I taught students from China, Australia, New Zealand, England, and the US. I taught a variety of students ranging from ages 6 through 18 here at WuKong Education. I was in charge of creating a productive environment that encourages learning. I was able to determine student's strengths and weaknesses and teach according to those student's needs. I was able to simplify concepts in a variety of forms when students were not able to understand the initial explanations. Not only was I able to build a stronger ability to communicate with my students, but also the parents. I had to organize my classroom materials in order to teach in a timely manner. As a teacher, I had to show strong leadership abilities while also presenting a friendly and approachable ambiance. I had to manage the attention of students, and be able to keep everyone on track. This was especially difficult from an online perspective, as I had minimal control in what the students did at their own homes. I enjoyed learning to balance student retention, and student participation. Throughout this experience, I learned to not take any misconduct from the students personal. I was pleased with the capacity of my patience.
Software Engineer
I was in charge of one of our companies profitable products. This product was responsible for keeping track of liability in the delivery of pharmaceutical prescriptions. I was solely in charge of the mobile application of this product. It was already years in production, so I had to learn the in's and out's of the product, continue development for the application, and help maintain and fix any problems that customers had. This product had thousands of clients and millions of orders that it was in charge of handling.- Every day I updated my team of 6 on what I was working on, what I did the previous day, and what I planned to accomplish in the near future.- I worked in two-week increments, meaning, every two weeks my team and I have to plan on what new things we wanted to develop, or features we wanted to fix. We had to give an outline on how we planned on accomplishing our two-week goals. After the two weeks, we update the team on what helped us and what needed improving from the previous two weeks of work.- I was later brought in to help with other projects the company had.- I got experience working in a small team of 6 and a larger team of 20+.- I was the youngest person that I worked with, and for that I am grateful for, since I had the opportunity to learn from others who had 15+ years in this industry.- I was able to improve my communication skills since I had to speak in front of my colleges on a daily basis.- When I worked for my team of 6, I was able to work independently and maintain my own work and time in order to complete my work in a timely manner.- When I worked for my team of 20+, I was able to learn how to work with others since most of the time, 4 or 5 of us worked on the same thing at a time. I also learned how to collaborate with others online when half of our team was located across the country.
Mathematics Department Assistant
- During the school year, I was a freshman/sophomore high school math teacher assistant. The classroom was split into two segments. The first segments the teacher tough that day's subject, I helped keep the classroom focused and calm. During the second segment, students had time to work on that day's school work. I walked around the classroom helping any students. My skills where particular helpful since I could help students who spoke Spanish as well. I also had the opportunity to teach the class when the teacher was sick and could not come to class.- During the school year, I was also a middle school math teacher assistant. I helped in the same manner as I did the high school class room. I also had the opportunity to assist in supervising test taking sessions.- During afterschool hours, I got to help both middle school and high school students with any materials they may need, this was in all subjects. I was valedictorian of my high school, so I was confident in my abilities to help in all subject matters even if I wasn't freshly reviewed on the particular subject.- During the summer, I go to assist in summer head-start programs that prepared students for high school and early high schoolers for next year's math material.I really enjoyed my time here. During this time, I was also studying Mathematics and Computer Science at the nearby University.
