Managed Shopko’s Markdown Optimization (MDO) system, a highly customized Oracle product. MDO is a robust tool with dynamic forecasting incorporating seasonality, geography and price elasticity to recommend markdowns for product identified for clearance. Assumed responsibility for non MDO (Retek) clearance.• Maintain business rules, troubleshooting issues, reporting, merchant training and ongoing assistance, weekly reporting and monitoring of merchant markdowns to ensure compliance with corporate clearance objectives.• Contributed to a total clearance gross margin improvement of $42M for the past two fiscal years.• Managed two system enhancements involving detailed requirements and partnership with Oracle and IT, testing and go live implementation. Trained merchants on the changes.• Ongoing merchant involvement to follow up on their adherence to system recommendations (timely markdowns and appropriate depth) in order to sell more of the discontinued product, creating additional profit for the company.• Oversaw RETEK Clearance, a legacy system that allowed merchants to markdown product in select stores. Added responsibility to manage the competitive price check process to support a competitive pricing structure for consumables.• Responsible for identifying MDO system requirements, testing and go-live system implementation for MDO, including a major system enhancement with Oracle. As part of implementation, training materials were created and conducted training classes for approximately 75 merchants. Led continuing change management efforts through one on one interactions and follow-up.• Competitive price check process. Worked with merchants to identify products to shop, transmitted products to a third party provider (Retail Data), collected shop results, provided pricing recommendations for merchants. Published a summary of shop finding to merchandising leadership. • Captured/summarized results of a pricing strategy test and communicated results to senior leadership weekly.

I maintained all responsibilities from my previous position. Responsibilities were increased to include Shopko’s primary clearance system which I retained into 2019. I was given the additional responsibility for the Investment Buying (selling to diverters) process and Online Auctions. My team grew to 7 to support increased responsibility.• Managed Investment Buying (2004 – 2006). Investment Buying is a process of purchasing pre-sold product for resale to third parties. I managed a team of 5 that sold $3M of merchandise annually to third parties.• Managed Online Auctions (2004 – 2006). Online Auctions were a sourcing initiative to decrease the cost of goods/services. Product/service specifications were defined through merchant partnership; I gathered prospective bidders and sent out the details with an invitation to an auction. Facilitated 65 auctions which provided an estimated $4.2M in cost savings. • Clearance Inventory Management (2007 - 2019) for all of Shopko. Utilized a system that forecasted sales and recommended timing and depth of markdowns for merchant’s review/approval based on a defined business rules. This process included system support/administration, merchant training and ongoing assistance, weekly reporting, and monitoring merchant compliance with corporate clearance objectives. In addition, I managed total clearance inventory ownership to maximize profit and sell through. • Data mining results were provided to the merchant team by my staff (2007 – 2008) for selected key promotions.

Promoted to Shopko corporate headquarters responsible for monitoring/reporting DC inventory and replenishing product into 3 DC’s that were stored year round. I managed a staff of 6 to support processes.• DC inventory reporting for $25M-$75M of inventory in 3 to 4 DC’s. Planning, forecasting and monitoring of DC inventory. Worked with Information Services department to identify requirements and roll out an Access based application to assist in management of seasonal DC inventory. Issued monthly DC inventory recap to senior management recapping current ownership, identify/quantify clearance and excess DC inventory, determine weeks of supply. Reporting helped provide visibility and drive resolution, i.e. increase promotional exposure, return to vendor, redistribute across DC’s.• Responsible for DC inventory replenishment on up to 7,000 basic pick and pull products. Pick and pull product is stored in the DC 365 days of the year to support just-in-time replenishment to stores.• Managed the Diversion buying process from 1991 – 2007. Diversion buying is a process of sourcing merchandise from third parties when their cost is better than direct vendor cost. Generated a cost savings $1 - $2M annually.• Corporate reporting for vendor processing time, transportation time and fill rate from 2001 - 2014. Merchants and Inventory Management utilized reporting to monitor vendor performance and adjust automated replenishment system appropriately with a goal to reduce inventory investment.

I began my Shopko career as an hourly paid associate with increasing roles of responsibility prior to joining the Management Training Program which through promotions and transfers led to the Store Manager role in different 3 stores (Madison, Green Bay and Grafton WI). • Madison – 18 month old store when I arrived, consisting of an hourly staff with limited experience, high employee turnover rate and lowest average wage in the company and an underachieving management staff. We drastically reduced employee turnover, improved management staff’s capabilities, developed and implemented a plan to improve merchandise turnover. Over my 3 years, we increased annual store sales volume by $6M which made the store profitable in its third year resulting in Shopko’s decision to build another location only 3.4 miles away.• Green Bay East - I managed the relocation of the store to a new location, managing 2 buildings at once with a staff in excess of 250 employees. We instilled a new attitude in the staff. Developed a detailed time and action plan for all non-construction related tasks to support the wind down in the old building and set up in the new building.• Grafton - We brought a new spirit and energy to the Grafton store and raised the level of expectations for the team during my 8 month assignment prior to relocating to corporate headquarters.• In all three locations, I had direct reports advance to store or corporate level management positions.
