As Chairman, CEO and founder, I lead this non-profit organization with a mission of providing rewarding science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers to the underemployed, unemployed, women, minorities, and at-risk youth and adults. Developing innovative software and data analytic solutions and guided technology training in both software development and data analytics are the chosen means for actualizing our mission.

Developed ability to relate to and work with all types of retail customers and to recommend selections of vehicles to customers with greatly differing requirements; honed, analysis, interpersonal, documentation and presentation skills; was second highest level Senior Sales Consultant for our Richmond store; led Compass employee improvement team for the last six years.

Provided consulting services to the association industry in the West End of Richmond, Virginia; learned the “art” of politics, board policy, association law, and how to satisfy both homeowner’s and the board; learned to source for and manage multiple contractor relationships; maintained 134 town homes, a pool, 35 acres of grounds and a twenty-five acre lake while continuing to learn how to manage my own business. Started offshore recruiting business.

Sold clinical and billing software and services to twelve US states; responsibilities included developing and supporting relationships before and after sale, developing new leads, investigating feasibility of new product sales and promoting company at trade shows around the country; opened Oklahoma with major new software system as new state served.

Consulted with AttoTek, Incorporated, Culpepper, Virginia; Trenchant Solutions, Incorporated, Richmond, Virginia; Professional Resources, International, Richmond, Virginia, and several others clients. Provided business to business contract information technology consulting services such as information technology development, sales and marketing strategy and competitive benchmarking; refined business processes and practices; drafted business plans; taught management leadership and strategic communications; designed virtual private/wide area network interoffice communications using SQL databases for staff and asset scheduling, routing and logistics; Consulted heavily in international employee recruitment.

AttoTek, Incorporated, Culpeper, Virginia. Led market development and strategic planning of custom integrated software decision support systems for the transportation, security and medical data visualization marketplaces; utilized GIS software and GPS hardware for development of advanced routing, inventory and security systems; developed products and services for organizations needing high-end data analysis software incorporating complex business rules, integrated supply chains, and large data warehouses; consulted extensively on logistics routing and scheduling systems for Norfolk Southern Railroads, Massey Coal Company and ADOy Empresas Coor - the largest bus line in Mexico; developed unused medical software patent into new line of software products from beginning to end; spun off newly developed product line.

Sold human resources, benefit administration, payroll and tax enterprise software solutions and services to national account healthcare institutions including Augusta Health, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Bon Secours Health System, Inc. Headquarters, Hospital Corporation of America VA Hospital System, University of Virginia Medical Center, Hunton & Williams, LLP, Phillip Morris USA, Westvaco, Norfolk Southern Corporation, and Estes Express Lines, Inc.; sold McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe LLP law firm ADP’s human resource information system with an approximate net sales value of $1,000,000; Managed technical team for Oracle database conversion and implementation.

Opened new sales territory in Southern Virginia marketplace for lab test services and lab test software; promoted to Nichols Institute Representative September 1996; designed GIS target market mapping system using MapInfo software for Virginia target marketing; sold $3 million in services sales during tenure in brand new territory. Note: Southern Virginia territory closed for business February 1997 during corporate-wide reorganization spearheaded by Booze Allen Hamilton Management Consultants; SmithKline Beecham’s Southern Virginia lab assets purchased two years later and territory reopened.

Designed and sold network and mainframe printing systems hardware, software, and development services to Bon Secours Health System, Hospital Corporation of America VA Hospital System, University of Virginia Medical Center, A. H. Robins, McKesson General Medical, Inc., Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia, the McGuire Veteran’s Hospital, Owens and Minor, Inc., Sterile Concepts, Inc., Davenport & Company, McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe LLP, Hunton & Williams, LLP, County of Henrico, Media General, Inc., Chesapeake Corporation of Virginia, Westvaco Corporation, DuPont Corporation, ICI Americas Corporation; Managed technical team analysis and installation resources; led redesign of business processes and practices for system team proposal development; Number one district printing systems sales representative for both 1991 and 1994.

Had primary responsibility for four counties of the Northern Neck of Virginia for purchasing all timber and land, selling hardwood sawtimber to local sawmills, and managing employees of seven timber harvesting crews, three barge landings, several land management crews and three independent wood dealers- Managed activities of approximately 50 people; secondary responsibilities involved helping manage 150,000 acres of company land, surveying and building roads, designing and maintaining wildlife management areas, and fighting forest fires.

Worked part time on weekends and full time during summers while in college. Managed planting crews of 20 people during the fall and winter Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) planting season. Worked on prescribed burns, fought forest fires, refilled tanks for aerial spraying of herbicides (a messy, wet job), counted seedlings, and produced wildlife assays.

Worked for seven years for this large, union organized, glass manufacturing plant starting in the 10th grade of high school and going all the way through two degrees in college. I rotated shifts after school and on the weekends, and went full time during every summer. We manufactured mostly soda bottles, including many commemorative bottles, Ball canning jars, and various other odd glass bottles and jars. We eventually put in clad plastic wrap spray machines to coat our thin glass 2 liter bottles to prevent bottles exploding in grocery stores, but the market was moving rapidly to plastic bottles and eventually killed off the bulk of our business anyway. I stayed out of college and worked one full year here while at Clemson (ran out of money). The environment was one of constantly rotating shifts, a union shop, and in an environment of up to 130 degrees while operating some machines. I went from sweeping floors at 17 years old to becoming a machine operator on eight different machines, including decorator and clad operations- the most technical, and driving a forklift.
