In my work as President and CEO of the Trauma Survivors Foundation (TSF), I conduct debriefings in domestic as well as international disasters, shootings, bombings, bank robberies, corporate incidents, and police tragedies. I provided onsite trauma counseling in such events as the attacks on the WTC in NYC; Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy; the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre; the Boston Marathon Bombings; the shootings in the DC Navy Yard, Aurora movie theater, and Oregon college campus; the two terrorist attacks in Paris, and the Philadelphia train derailment. As a former EMT and firefighter, I knew the basis of trauma. But it wasn’t until my undergraduate year in pre-med that I discovered psychology. I started riding along with police officers in Wilmington and Philadelphia, conducting debriefs after the day’s events. I fell in love with critical stress management and never looked back. What really struck me was the immediate response and change in traumatic situations. Psychology is a long-term scenario but in trauma therapy, you have someone that just had the worst day of their life, and you need to enact change quickly.I always ask the question, What happens after the trauma? Once the event is over, emotional trauma lingers. The firefighter that couldn’t save everyone from the fire, the policeman who was nearly shot to death by the bank robber; PTSD happens in domestic war zones, too. That’s why TSF provides counseling and Critical Incident Response training to law enforcement and the emergency services community. We recognize that these men and women are the heroes we need them to be and the heroes we aspire to become. But that also means they carry a very heavy weight at times.“To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” --- Emerson. If TSF has helped one person feel better after a traumatic experience, then we’ve been successful.Visit us and make a donation at thetraumasurvivorsfoundation.com.

PresidentThe Trauma Survivors Foundation Jun 2013 - PresentDelawareThe Trauma Survivors Foundation (TSF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation based in Delaware that seeks to improve the lives of children, families and emergency services personnel who have experienced a traumatic event by providing mental health services through a network of trained trauma therapists. My mission as President of The Trauma Survivors Foundation is to raise awareness of the benefits trauma counseling provides. I believe that there is life after trauma and that, with help, people can move past the pain and truly live again. Having worked for years as a licensed counselor specializing in traumatic stress, I have witnessed, first-hand, the difference therapy can make for someone who has lived through tragedy. I also want to ensure that the trauma therapy and crisis intervention fields continue to grow and evolve. I established The Trauma Survivors Foundation to help those who have witnessed or experienced tragic events by offering them counseling sessions with trauma therapists. In addition to providing these services, TSF also offers:• Training and educating students and first responders in trauma therapy and crisis intervention• Scholarships to high school and college seniors seeking careers in mental health services• Financial supporting firefighters, police, and EMS so they may attend training classesFor more information, please contact me directly. -
