Responsible for day-to-day running of the business in the absence of the Directors. Managing Technical and Production including ordering all raw materials and maintaining quality of product range. Responsible for all scientific functions within the company. Managing a team of chemists, technicians and microbiologists. Designing and developing new and custom made cosmetic products for many different cosmetic producers and many different product types e.g hair care, face and body, novel products (blue sky development projects including novel anti ageing formulations), natural and organic based products etc), hotel amenities ranges including bespoke ranges. Products designed were both natural based and synthetic based. Providing Technical advice on ingredients, packaging, marketing, safety REACH etc. Providing Regulatory Affairs advice on products. Determining Product Specifications and physical parameters to ensure product meets clients wish list. Testing the cosmetic product (standard tests pH, viscosity etc and stability and challenge testing). Providing advice on manufacturing and storing on site. Costing out projects from design to manufacture Liaising with clients and designing products to their specification or briefs. Preparing briefs for clients. Negotiating with suppliers on behalf of clients and for Advantis Ltd. Liaising with PR, marketing and Press Offices producing copy and Marketing Information packs with reference to USP and novel selling points. Visiting potential clients and selling the service. Attending Trade Fairs, seminars etc. Meeting with suppliers to discuss new ingredients and methodology. Designing new data bases to record testing, sampling and formulations Producing PIF for clients and ensuring all documentation is correct.

Responsible for developing new product ranges and reformulating existing products. Providing technical services function to customers. Providing Health and Safety advice including the compilation of MSDS for all products. Sourcing new raw materials and liaising with suppliers regarding quality and cost. Evaluation of new raw materials. Evaluation of incoming materials including packaging. Trouble shooting any problems from production and solving on going problems. Ensuring compliance with current worldwide directives on product manufacture and safety. Ensuring smooth running of all the laboratories by developing new operating methods, quality control standards and quality assurance thus reducing failure rates on finished products by 94%. Liaising with various Government and Statutory bodies e.g. DTI, Water Board, PERA etc.

CAS provided advice on Health and safety, chemical handling, disposal and storage. I also provided advice on laboratory start-ups and equipment sourcing and purchasing. I have also acted as a Technical Recruitment Consultant for some clients including a Head Hunting function to enable approaches to be made without direct contact with my client and providing advice and assistance in recruiting. I carried out inspections for SGS (UK) Ltd for both Global Trade Solutions ( representing the interests of Third World Countries) and Redwood (sampling and witnessing oil and petrochemicals products analysis; insurance investigations, auditing QC/QA, production etc). I have provided Shift Chemist cover at Conoco Ltd HOR for 29 months covering QC and QA functions.
