About Dennis Collins
I am passionate about creating change. I love trying out new ideas and discovering new initiatives. For years I have tried out various jobs while picking up a qualification along the way in an area I love which is Electrical engineering and some day I may invent a type of rocket!! But at the moment I am re-discovering my creative side and enjoying building my brand while also getting to work on Television. I love work and all aspects of creating something new and unique. I have an artistic mind and I really enjoy strategy and fault finding. I love to learn new skills no matter what they are be it finding a new way to chop a piece of wood to installing a custom ROM on a mobile phone or fixing a CPU on a console. My inquisitive mind brings out a bit of an inventor in me and I love to use my hands.
Listed skills include Dj, Brand Developement, Programmable Logic, Solar Energy, and 19 others.

Production Associate
Owner
The Print Den is my new business which I set up in Kinsale. We print on garments, ceramics and we offer a business card, poster design and company branding. Owning this business will also enable me to build my brand Éire Ya! Full news on launch to come in 2015
Promoter
Mid Summer Mango is a music festival which I co-founded in Kinsale in 2012. It focuses predominantly on original bands and DJ's. The genre we try and feature mainly for the live music is Ska/Reggae/Hip Hop with the DJ's and MC's ranging from Hip Hop/House/Reggae. We have had events in 2012, 2013 and 2014 in Kinsale and this year we took the festival to Ballydehob. My role with MSM was to come up with a schedule of events while also booking all the acts and decorating the venues while also running the event. It's growing year by year and looking forward to the next few years we are focusing on the south of Ireland where we intend to grow the brand name while getting to work with some of the best up and coming music acts Ireland has to offer. The long range focus is to get the festival to a level where we can invite renowned worldwide recognised acts to play in some of Irelands most beautiful towns with the final event being held in Kinsale in an outdoor setting. Please see www.msmfestivals.com for more info
Designer/Owner
Éire Ya!® is my brand that I am regularly working on at the moment which all started in 2012. I come up with funny Irish designs/slogans to put on merchandise which is something I love doing. This brings out one of my creative sides that I really enjoy as it's nice to see the reaction from people when the penny drops! I have built the brand/website from scratch using what knowledge I pick up along the way. It's a brand that's now in Ireland and many parts of the world as it's popular with those here and travelling away as it's a bit of a joke to take with you where ever you go. You can buy merchandise online on www.eireya.ie or call in to our shop on 4 Market Street, Kinsale. There's a long story to go with it all which you can find in the website link above!Pucking Savage!Nice Swan Boy!
Resident Dj
I've been a music addict from a young age. As soon as I discovered the art of DJ'ing I just kept at it until I got my first gig in a night club and from there I haven't stopped. That was back in 1997 and nearly 20 years later I'm still loving it now as much as I did back then. There's an art in being able to read a room and I'm lucky enough to be able to pull it off (Most of the time anyway!) I've gigged mainly in Ireland with residencies in various pubs and clubs with a stint in Jersey and London where I was a resident DJ in a venue in the west end. It brought me down the road of producing music too at a recreational level and songwriting is a new venture I'm going down because of it all. Love music! Full Stop! .
Presenter / Co- Producer
I presented and co-produced a show called "County Matters" on a new channel Irish TV which broadcasts worldwide on satellite and freeview. This job was part time with the hope of more work to come. The area I covered was County Cork where we go out and film in various locations around county Cork promoting all the good there is about Cork. There I get to be involved in the production side of things too as I come up with some segments for the shows. I have been added to the crew to help with the heavy load of filming that happenned over the summer of 2014 and I hope to be involved a lot more moving forward as this new and exciting venture is something I've always wanted to do.
Stage Director
Here I had the privilege of organising local music acts to perform on stage in my home towns most prestigious festival. The festival is Kinsale's oldest festival and to be part of the organisation was great as I got to meet some of the people who have been involved in it for many many years. My duties were to organise music and arts on the stage but my electrical background was also used here too in the setting up of the stage.
Radio Dj
I co-produced a 1 hour show which was a radio magazine show called "The Gathering - RSVP" which connected the community with an experimental collaboration of artists located worldwide. It was part of an artist based project that examines what it means to be Irish today. The show aired weekly for 6 months. Here I got to really explore my capabilities as a producer and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience which gave me a taste to get more involved in the arts. I hope to work on radio again some day.
Editor
With my friend Gareth Barry of Blue Pixal Design founded www.sempo.ie. which was essentially an Irish .ie new social networking site that is based around a music/entertainment website promoting media in Ireland. It was an idea we both had together for a while as there was always going to be something for us to do together and this was it. I helped with ideas and content creation and helped with marketing while also travelling to gigs to record and promote musicians, dj's, producers and anyone with any other form of involvement in music. Gareth was the coding man and had some fantastic ideas that were a massive feature of our site. Unfortunately we had to close the site down as it was too demanding for us to run without any income coming from it. It was a great networking experience and all is not lost though as it lead to other avenues online.
Senior Electrical Hvac Commissioning Engineer
I was involved in the commissioning of HVAC electrical installations at Exxon Mobil HQ in Qatar. Areas covered were data communications and HVAC installations. Documentation and commissioning of Air conditioning units and all industrial wiring/fabrication installations carried out. Equipotential bonding, fault analysis and correct installation procedure documentation. Working in this capacity was extremely enjoyable as I got to utilise a lot of my electrical knowledge which was required on large industrial machines and installations.
Electrician
I commenced an electrical apprenticeship in 2005 on domestic building sites at first before progressing to doing industrial and commercial installations. I gained excellent experience in wiring systems that covered all aspects of various installations which included circuits such as ring main, parallel and series, alarms, earthing and equipotential bonding systems, cctv, alarms, networking, tv and satellite systems. After receiving my Craft cert and qualification I went on to do further courses in solar panel installation and programmable logic control (PLC's)
Bar Manager
Here I managed all aspects of the bar/entertainment industry. Duties included staff management, stock control, events organisation, cash control, housekeeping and ensuring an excellent service to customers and a good safe working environment. This is a job I really enjoyed as it involved meeting lots of people on a daily basis.
Pharmaceutical Process Operator
Here I worked on large centrifuges and operated a process which was filtering a chemical down to a powdered state for safe disposal. I was involved in the production of various pharmaceutical products which were used in the health care industry. Here I completed an 11 month City and Guilds certificate. Other duties included operating computerised operations systems and preparing products for despatch. Documentation was a very important part of this job also.
