As Internal Auditor at IMCD, I reviewed the financial position and internal controls of IMCD’s operating companies. These companies vary in size from small, recently started to large established companies and are located throughout the world. All reviews are concluded with a report and discussion of findings with local management and the Management Board of IMCD.Purpose of the reviews is twofold: reviewing past performance and compliance to the IMCD’s Risk & Control Framework, but at the same time adding value for the operating companies by indicating room for improvement. This also via educating and sharing best practices with auditees. Culture, IT, supply chain and stock management are elements that I incorporated in the reviews. I was also involved in the sustainability reporting process of IMCD.

Papendrecht

As Internal Auditor at Boskalis I was part of the small team responsible for preparing and executing audits of Boskalis’ major construction/dredging projects, service business units and corporate functions. The audits are finance orientated with the purpose of verifying the reliability and effectiveness of the internal controls and management reporting process. This role also included reporting the results of the interviews and audit tests to the auditees and management.

As Manager at the Audit & Assurance department of BDO Rotterdam I was responsible for the proper execution of assurance and consulting engagements. I planned, executed, and finalised the audits according to the Dutch Auditing Standards (NV COS, based on ISA’s). Reporting of the annual statements was based on IFRS and Dutch Gaap (RJ). I had a wide variety of clients in my portfolio ranging from small sized regional trading companies to large multinational construction companies and service providers.At the same time, I managed teams with up to 8 colleagues. I reviewed their audit work performed and supported them in the development of their careers. I was also coach for 4 colleagues, part of the user committee of the audit tool used by BDO, and teacher at the BDO Academy.
