I have always had a deep interest in learning and in sharing with others what I have learned. As someone who has spent his entire career in people-helping professions, this makes for a teacher who is passionate not only about the subject matter I am instructing, but loves bringing others along to a place where they are empowered and encouraged by the skills they have now attained, and the knowledge they have gained. I am an assistive technology instructor, with a background in clinical counseling and pastoral ministry who deeply enjoys helping blind and visually impaired students conquer any obstacles to their effective use of electronic devices. My experience is wide-ranging and I have taught everything from the use of Braille and portable book-reading devices to program and app usage with screen-reading and screen magnification technology on Windows and Macintosh computers. I have had the great privilege to be part of the tech instruction team at three institutions dedicated to serving and training the blind. For those opting to learn at home, I have offered classes both in-person and remotely, a service provided rarely by tech instructors, yet one that is sorely needed. In my personal life, I love spending time with both my girlfriend and my dog, traveling, listening to music, speaking in local churches and enjoying good international restaurants.
