I am a passionate entrepreneur who believes strongly in using technology to solve "pain points" for people and industries, leveraging on artificial intelligence etc to promote positive change and create profitable, socially redemptive businesses that have strong global impactThe people part that concerns me is jobs/livelihood. With the ongoing 4th industrial revolution (driven by deep tech like artificial intelligence, robotics etc), many jobs are permanently lost as companies restructure. The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated this trend, as digitisation speeds up across economies. The Future of Work is Freelancing, as the labour force moves progressively towards freelancing over time. But Freelancing is inherently unstable, and we need to help freelancers build financial stability. That is why I co-founded Lyte in 2017. 7 years later, there is now a strong core leadership team at Lyte with proven technologies / products that can achieve this. Societies are more stable, if we can help freelancers survive, succeed and thriveSince June 2024, I am also helping an industry I care deeply about - maritime. Digitising the maritime industry is critical to Singapore (jobs, GDP etc), and I have taken on this challenge so that workers there can have an assured financial future too Started my entrepreneurial journey by founding HungryGoWhere.com (HGW) in 2006, a social media food platform that was "the Yelp of Singapore". By allowing restaurants to engage our large community of food lovers freely, HGW gave them the chance to thrive against the big restaurants who had superior financial power. Having successfully digitised the F&B sector and growing HGW's traffic to 1 million visitors monthly, I sold HGW to Singtel for S$12 million (~US$10 million) in 2012. Subsequently, I helped Singtel spearhead its international expansion, creating new digital products/assets for Singtel across Asia, before joining Wavemaker VC in 2014. As a VC partner and Founder Institute mentor (joined 2013), I supported fellow entrepreneurs changing the world too. Prior to being an entrepreneur, I worked 7 years in the Singapore Government in management roles after accepting the Government's Public Service Commission Overseas Merit Scholarship. The most life-changing was the 4 years at the Prime Minister's Office (Deputy Head, Strategic Policy Office) where I mapped out Singapore's potential futures, and shaped long-term strategic policies subsequently undertaken by the government I am highly passionate about leading positive change and this is what will define my career
