17th of April my new novel Against the Flow will be published. First in the Netherlands (Tegen de stroom), a couple of months later the English version will follow.It has a very actual theme: how far can you go to fight climate change?Drawing on my experience in the big corporate world, my insights explained in my non-fiction book (The fearless monkey) and the kidnap and murder of my own father, I wrote a thriller where a frustrated Italian takes on Shell, by kidnapping the son of its CEO. Can they make Shell alter its course? The reader will be taken along an exciting ride in this contemporary thriller and can judge for her- or himself whether this drastic mean justifies the end. I think the big corporate world is not using its enormous power to do the things they should do. There is more to their purpose than only shareholder value. Hopefully this fictional story, based on true historic facts, can shed some light on these issues. The whole endeavor is called Project Sunlight for a reason.I believe that a good story can do more for awareness and behavioral change than yet another (doom) report.My life is continuously driven by curiosity. I’m eager to learn and then put my insights into practice. For what is wisdom if you cannot apply it to your daily life?
