I've worked in distributed systems since 1997. Unlike typical n-tier web applications, these have all been stateful systems with strict performance, reliability, and robustness requirements.Prior to Summer 2000 I worked on two different Command, Control, Communications, & Intelligence (C3I) systems. I am proud to say that both systems are currently operational in the field.I am currently Architect for Charles Schwab's Trading Technology Group. We provide software systems meeting the electronic securities-trading needs of our private and institutional customers.Professionally, my goal is to develop ever-better solutions to increasingly difficult problems in the distributed systems space. I particularly enjoy the challenge of balancing the opposing forces of various non-functional requirements while maintaining control of costs. New technologies, techniques, and applications are sure to make this a very exciting area for years to come.Specialties: Distributed systems; high-performance and mission-critical applications; parallel programming; architecture and design patterns; Microsoft Windows Server. C++, C++/CLI, C#, Win32, .NET; debugging difficult problems; performance analysisDomain experience: Electronic securites trading; Command, Control, Communications & Intelligence (C3I) systems.
