Leading environmental planning of provincially-sponsored Community Expansion pipeline construction projects (in accordance with Ontario Energy Board requirements), in conjunction with internal project teams and external experts. Includes site screening, Environmental Impact Assessment completions, environmental mitigation measures for construction, excess and suspect soil management, hazardous waste management, spill prevention and environmental incident management. Role includes consultations with internal and external stakeholders (including First Nations) to coordinate planning and environmental mitigations for new gas pipline projects, developing strategies for execution and supporting environmental compliance, as well as management of external experts.

Completed a term position working with and providing oversight to a team of dedicated environmental professionals managing airport properties totalling approximately 1900 hectares, ensuring the GTAA’s environmental compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, supporting the building of social license, and driving the continual improvement of the airport’s environmental performance by collaborating with airport operations, including implementation of an ISO 14001:2015-compliant environmental management system. Experience areas include: corporate compliance, environmental management oversight (particularly in relation to stormwater management), team management, budgeting & contract management (~$1.2 million departmental budget, less salaries), stakeholder relations and contributions to the Environmental Master Planning program, as well as several self-initiated environmentally-friendly conceptual designs related to airport management issues (e.g. aviation hazards, vehicle maintenance, waste management).Environmental Master Planning contributions included:- passive electricity generation (e.g. small-scale run-of-river system, Highway 409 parallel axis wind turbines, subterranean stormwater and sewage water flow harnessing, road vibration harnessing via piezoelectric materials, rainwater flow harnessing via downspout turbines);- passive lighting supplementation (e.g. solar collector / concentrator assemblies with fibre optic conduits and interior diffusers);- passive heating supplementation (i.e. solar water heater systems);- heat conservation (e.g. drive-through draft curtains at entrance to baggage roads); and- resource conservation (e.g. rooftop rainwater harvesting for re-use -- as moisture supply, carrier medium and solvent).

Six years experience providing technical guidance, oversight and quality assurance in the delivery, management and hands-on completion of over 200 environmental and infrastructure projects for the Department of National Defence. Experience areas include technical oversight and quality oversight, human resource management, business development and management, health & safety management, procurement planning, and project and corporate risk management. Industry outreach included presentations to OSPE, APGO and ONEIA.

Provided engineering consulting services principally to commercial/industrial clientele, focussed on contaminated site assessment, remediation, management and litigation support. Specialized in contaminated soil and groundwater issues. Responsible for coordinating and completing various field programs including Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments, remedial system operation and maintenance, field work supporting Site Specific Risk Assessments, evaluation and planning of site-specific environmental risk management measures and liaison between clients, regulatory agencies and multiple stakeholders.
