I started my career as a machine tool electrician and advanced into electrical engineering. Adding proficiency in control and fluid power systems soon followed. The testing and commissioning of these machine tool systems required additional skills in precision metrology and alignment verification.I left machine tool manufacturing for automation after traveling overseas and stateside for several years. I next switched from high end CNC controls to PLC controls as the lead electrical engineer in a two man custom automation startup. Being solo, my design and support responsibilities included fluid power systems as well. The unique automation systems we built served many different industries. My next position was alternative energy product manager where I introduced several new green product lines. My last WESCO role was Technical Solutions Architect which allowed me to design complete system solutions mainly for large OEM conversions. My last project was a fully integrated demonstration and training lab featuring the complete Rockwell Automation product line. It went operational and online for public view and use in 2014.As Senior Systems Designer at Tecnova I had the opportunity to combine all of my past experience. Tecnova built state of the art testing systems utilizing LabView software on National Instruments' control hardware. We specialized in end of line and R&D testing systems for a broad spectrum of industries. I designed and built the balance of system, electrical, mechanical, and fluid systems.A new path has given me the opportunity to startup and commission an entirely new food production facility. As the Automation and Controls Engineer for the plant, I am involved in the construction and operation of the facility. The fully automated plant uses automatic guided vehicles, robots, cameras and state of the art food processing systems. The control systems I am responsible for include the full range of Siemens, Rockwell, and a dozen other specialized control systems. I also have the pleasure of learning more about industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
