User Experience is the key attribute that sustains any product or service in the marketplace. Human-Centered Design strategies are the essential foundations of successful product strategies. No product exists in the market because it is a mass of engineered plastic and bundled technology; but, because it sells a dream, a projected lifestyle or an unfulfilled desire that we crave for.In 1991, as a student designer at the Industrial Design Center, IIT Bombay, I had designed a new conceptual entertainment system named “Wild Passion” (seen at www.3dideation.com). This design was created for the Sony International Design Competition -'91, with the theme “Shapes of Sound to Come”. “Wild Passion” focused on how the experience of listening to music could be enhanced to a higher experiential level with visual stimulation of the senses.”Wild Passion is a visual intercourse of lines planes and segments”, was defined in the write up of the design competition which won a Honorable Mention at this competition. This marked my journey in design; discovering, refining and re-defining eXperiential design, humanizing technology; expounding on the idea that designers are dream merchants, technology integration specialists and lifestyle influencing change agents.
