Not long after that I asked him for a job at L&A, his accounting firm. I was maybe 8 or 9 at the time and he'd hand me account analysis and fairly complicated tax returns. "Dad where does this mortgage interest go on the Schedule A or Schedule E?" "Take your time... and figure it out" "Really dad?" But now I'm forever grateful for those lessons. I got good at "figuring it out."I'd continue to work with him until present day. At the same time, I started my own company D&D in 2015. Risked my wife and I's life savings, maxed out our credit cards, fell on my face a few hundred times, stared in the ugly face of failure a whole bunch - but came out of the other end. Backing oneself into a corner. To say "figure it out" helped a bajillion times over is an understatement. D&D would grow to multiple millions in net profit and over 50 employees (Although I preferred to call them my team).I took the money I made at D&D and purchased multiple real estate properties, which we made into both short term and long term rentals and branded our property management company Loveless Holdings. I invested in small businesses like Storm Auto Group and Roman Films. I exited D&D in 2023.Now with Arcade, I'm looking for bulletproof businesses that knock my socks off to acquire and partner in. I like accounting, digital marketing, HVAC, car washes, property management, landscaping sectors to name a few. Not limited to. Any bulletproof businesses will do.
