During his tenure, he began covering the poignant 9/11 Memorials at the World Trade Center site, capturing the depth of emotion surrounding this historic event. His ability to convey the human experience ensured that each image resonated with profound significance. From 2002 to 2003, before his work in the Senate, Dennis was a photographer for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, covering press conferences, rallies, and special events across New York State. He spent the summer of 2002 traveling the state to photograph remediated brownfields for the award-winning publication Brownfields. This role refined his photojournalism skills, enabling him to capture compelling imagery that tells important environmental stories of New York State.
