About Dennis Njung'E

My professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning spans seven (7) years of working in the natural resources development sector with private, non-governmental organizations and research institutions in Kenya, England, Uganda, and Nigeria. Specifically, during this time, working with Big Five Africa, Louis Dreyfus Foundation, and GROOTS Kenya has provided me an opportunity to learn and offer technical leadership in the development and execution of monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning systems. This includes designing theories of change, feminist MEL frameworks and plans, and supporting teams to design actionable and measurable logical frameworks. At the same time, I have supported in designing an innovative approach for sharing learning amongst colleagues and stakeholders, including developing an internal and external gender data dashboard(www.genderdatakenya.org) to make monitoring data more accessible and usable. I hold a Master's in Water Science, policy, and management with a major focus on policy and management from the University of Oxford and a degree in environmental planning and management with a major focus on environmental management and natural resource conservation. My educational background offers critical competencies in climate change and nature-based solutions concerning water science, supply and use, policy analysis and review, planning and executing watershed management and restoration, and designing financing options for such activities. I am keen on growing a career in monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning. I am a data enthusiast passionate about using data for learning and decision-making. I am also very passionate about natural resource use and management. I have strengths in designing programs monitoring, and evaluation frameworks, working within a team to achieve automation of MEL, and advancing data management, analysis, and visualization. I am competent in using digital data collection tools such as Kobo, ODK, Commcare, Survey Monkey, Google Forms, and Question Pro, and data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Stata and SPSS, and Tableau. I am easily adaptive to explore and learn from others, share my expertise, and work with highly motivated teams to achieve output on time and in good quality.
