Missouri Biotechnology Association (MOBIO) is the only statewide membership group that speaks with one voice to champion life sciences across Missouri and in Washington D. C. Representing the largest and broadest cross-section of life science organizations, including companies, institutions of higher education, medical research organizations, start-up enterprises, agri-science and related firms involved in research, development and commercialization of the life sciences, MOBIO serves to connect, develop and advance the state’s bio science community in Jefferson City, across the state and even in Washington D.C. As a MOBIO Board Member, I play an integral role in providing direction and guidance to the President of MOBIO, in order to further the mission of an interconnected and collaborative life science community. My specific interests include promoting policies and building infrastructure that is conducive to growing the life sciences in Missouri and the Kansas City region.

Manage all facets of the organization, including day-to-day operations, member development &engagement, financials, budgeting, fundraising, strategic planning, program development, publicrelations/advocacy and hiring/management of multiple direct reports.Expanded BioKansas membership by >40%, increased annual revenues by 20% & non-dues revenue to >46% of overall budget, & strengthened cash position from ~1 month to ~12 months operating expensesSuccessfully convened & led the effort to renew the Angel Investor Tax Credit in Kansas in 2016Established a more regional membership footprint and developed numerous new programs focused on convening the regional industry, academic and associate organizationsSurveyed & identified workforce needs of our industry members and launched leadership and professional development programs to begin to address skills gaps of incumbent employees
