I am currently a part of the Communications, Infrastructure, and Security Business Unit at IQE. I foster strong interpersonal relationships through analytical, communication, and leadership skills. The focus of my role is supporting epitaxy of III-Nitride Power electronics through strategic business development. I have always desired to be part of cutting-edge technology research. This led me to attend SUNY Albany and the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) to obtain my B.S. in Nanoscale Engineering, as well as minors in mathematics and business. While at CNSE, I conducted laboratory research on a biomimetic system for high-throughput glaucoma drug screening. Looking to expand my skills and knowledge, I started an co-op with Tokyo Electron working on atomic layer deposition of a dielectric blocking layer to facilitate selective area deposition. It was this industry experience which led me into the exciting field of semiconductors. Focused on silicon technology, this role at Tokyo Electron was a large catalyst to enroll in a Ph.D. program focused on compound semiconductor technology. While enrolled in the Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D. program at NC State, I also enrolled in several MBA courses, obtaining a Technology, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship Certificate from NC State. Additionally, I participated in the NSF I-Corps program for emerging small business start-ups and completed an internship with NC State’s Office of Research Commercialization. These experiences gave me great knowledge and leadership experience for the business side of, not just the semiconductor field, but for a large breadth of technologies. They also provided me with the experience of being a part of a small business start-up company from technology to product, to business plan construction.

Graduate Research AssistantNorth Carolina State University Aug 2016 - Sep 2021Raleigh, North Carolina, United StatesOptimized metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) process for the reduction of unintentional defects in nitrogen-polar gallium nitride. Reduction of defects is imperative if novel nitrogen-polar gallium nitride high power electronic devices are to be realized. Assisted in operation, maintenance, and setup of chemical vapor deposition and vacuum equipment.Gained extensive knowledge and experience in chemical vapor deposition (CVD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrical characterization, and cleanroom processing. My time as a graduate researcher has allowed me to take an extremely deep dive into the field of materials science, III-nitride materials characterization and growth, and become a better experimentalist. The independence I have in directing the path of my project has enhanced my organizational and planning abilities in a way few other opportunities could have. The knowledge that I have been able to garner during my experience has been second to none, with many of my colleagues having 20+ years in the III-nitrides. The hands-on experience I have gained working with various characterization techniques and vacuum systems has been extremely rewarding and has developed skills that are extremely pertinent to my career aspirations. -
Licensing Analyst InternNc State Office Of Research Commercialization Jun 2019 - Jan 2020Raleigh, North Carolina, United StatesAs a licensing analyst intern, it was my job to evaluate invention disclosures coming into the Office of Research Commercialization (ORC). After evaluation I prepared an internal report, including preliminary market analysis, which was discussed with the team of licensing analysts to decide whether or not to move forward with the technology. If it was decided that we should proceed, I would conduct in depth market analysis, a literature review, and analyze the viability of the potential product or service. I summarized all of this into a PowerPoint presentation which was presented to ORC licensing analysts and shared with the inventor. Finally, I worked to connect the inventor to interested companies within the market I researched in order to facilitate the proliferation of NC State technologies to private industry.During my time at the Office of Research Commercialization I had the opportunity to interface with my team, the inventor of the technology, and industry contacts to facilitate the transfer of technology from NC State to industry. This role allowed me to leverage my technical skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills to forge a relationship between university and industry which otherwise may not exist. It opened my career options to utilizing my technical skills not in a purely technical role. It also taught me to analyze a technology in such a way to make it marketable to industry. -
Process Engineering InternTokyo Electron Limited Jun 2015 - Jun 2016Albany, New York, United StatesMy responsibilities as a process engineering intern at Tokyo Electron included operating, maintaining, and optimizing an atomic layer deposition system to deposit high-k dielectric blocking layers for applications in selective area deposition. In concert with an interdisciplinary team, I was responsible for the experimental design, implementation and data analysis to be presented to management in bi-weekly meetings. This work was to be integrated into Tokyo Electron's next generation of deposition tools.I was also worked in a wafer production quality cleanroom, observing the tools TEL produces and the processes they implement to successfully sell their equipment to customers in the semiconductor industry. I assisted in uninstalling and reinstalling a deposition chamber on a production tool in a cleanroom environment. My experience at Tokyo Electron was invaluable when making the decision for the next step in my career. The collaborative aspect of working in a team environment is something I knew was a requirement for any future job I was to hold. This experience was a catalyst for my decision to enter into a Ph.D. program, as I identified the technical knowledge learned would allow me to move up in the company. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantCollege Of Nanoscale Science And Engineering Oct 2013 - May 2015Albany, New York, United StatesAssisted an M.D./Ph.D. student's research on an in-vitro method for high-throughput primary open-angle glaucoma drug screening. My responsibilities included cleanroom fabrication of microporous membranes to be used as scaffolds for cell culture, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments, and cell transfection. This role was my first experience in a laboratory environment where I was able to design and execute my own experiments. The independence which I gained and enjoyed as a researcher allowed me to further my literature review skills and take a deep dive into a research topic. The application of semiconductor fabrication techniques to biology is an interdisciplinary environment which I naturally thrived in. -
Information Technology And Services ProfessionalXiacon, Inc. May 2013 - Jan 2015Hauppauge, New York, United StatesDuring my time as an IT Professional at Xiacon, Inc. I had many responsibilities. As a support technician I performed on-site customer support, assessed and troubleshot software and hardware issues, and installed workstations and printers. In a product manager role, I was responsible for creating a ticketing system from inception to completion. This system is used in-house and for clients to submit tickets from their workstations. Implementation of this ticketing system has saved the small company valuable time and money, while enhancing their relationships with clients.I enjoyed my time with Xiacon as it gave me in depth knowledge of IT skills which I have applied in my personal and professional career. Interfacing with customers both over the phone and on site offered valuable experience in understanding what the customer needs and how I can most effectively meet those needs. Being a small company, teamwork was an essential skill to have and one which I certainly developed further while working at Xiacon.
