College Mentors, Inc. is an innovative, national non-profit that pairs elementary and middle school children with local college student mentors for weekly, structured activities that expose youth to supportive role models and to a positive vision for their future. Our mission is to connect college students with the most to give to kids who need it most. With chapters at campuses across the country, College Mentors serves over 2,300 children with over 2,700 college student volunteers.

Provided executive leadership for the Harrison College system, comprised of 14 campuses and a robust online division with 5,000 students and 800 faculty and staff members. Directed and oversaw all international and domestic operations, including enrollment, marketing, online and ground campuses, regulatory, academic policies and programs for the system. Management responsibilities included budget preparation and supervision, curriculum development, strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, program evaluation, and scheduling.Key Accomplishments:- Provided leadership for Harrison’s international expansion in Asia and Africa.- Guided launch of Harrison College Corporate Training Division.- Created innovative and distinctive online environment called KnowU (http://knowu.harrison.edu)

Led turn around of IHETS from low impact, low revenue hybrid state agency to broad national reach and double-digit revenue growth across all service categories. Responsible for overall executive leadership of the organization. Developed and conducted organizational planning and strategy, budgeting, vendor and contract negotiations, and legislative and governmental affairs. Responsible for fiscal management and full P & L for the organization.Key Accomplishments:- Negotiated $30+ million contracts with Sprint and Clearwire.- Led all merger and acquisition activities.- Doubled top- and bottom-line revenues in first twelve months.- Primary lead for government and corporate relations.- Recognized by Junior Achievement in 2008 as one of Indiana’s 100 Best and Brightest for state turnaround efforts.

Supervised units include: Research Computing and Emerging Technologies, Instructional and Library Technology, Management Information Systems, User Services and Support, Telecommunications, One-Card and Security Services, Web Operations and Marketing, Infrastructure, Systems & Network Management, and Academic Counseling Services. Created research and emerging technologies group.Key Accomplishments:- Directed major global ERP and groupware systems upgrade and integration projects. - Established Valpo as a Sun Center of Excellence.- Implemented cutting-edge campus voice-data infrastructure for global operations.- Gained national leadership recognition for Valparaiso (including CIO 100 Award and cover articles in Chronicle of Higher Education, Sun case studies, and EduTech Magazine).

Provided leadership and coordination for team of educational technology consultants, specializing in operational assessment and strategic planning, web development and ecommerce, and instructional technology design and implementation. Clients included public and private institutions such as Tufts, Tri-State University, Rose Hulman, Marquette, and Mary Washington.

Led all global information services and technology, comprising a professional staff of approximately 100 faculty and staff members and more than 250 student employees with an annual operating budgets of more than $10 million and grant budgets of more than $20M. Areas of responsibility include Academic and Research Computing, University Libraries, Administrative Computing, User Services and Support, Telecommunications, One-Card and Security Services, University Web Operations, the Center for Contemporary Media, Systems & Network Management, and the University’s award-winning “361° Initiatives”. Also established an innovative technology venture fund and e-commerce division.Key Accomplishment:- Established and led a technology-related venture fund and new business incubator.- Founded and managed a for-profit e-commerce and marketing division—361° Consulting.- Earned two Mira Awards as top IT leader in Indiana, and recognition by Forbes.com as the third most wired campus in the country.- Led major four-year systems integration project and ERP conversion to Oracle Enterprise Systems.- Guided infrastructure planning for more than $200M in construction projects.- Introduced creative action team model to gain full staff involvement in problem-solving and decision-making.- Raised and managed more than $27M in grants and major gifts.
