My bio tagline is "student, communicator, creator" and I'd like to use this space to explain why that is. Student- This title was literally true, as I spent 4 years attending THE Florida State University pursuing a degree in Political Science and Philosophy, but It means more to me than that. Enrolled in classes or not, I have a deep passion for learning. I love to view knowledge as one set of understanding - I see the benefit in breaking it up into sections, theoretical math and culinary arts don’t blend into each other in useful ways day to day- but to me there is beauty in viewing every new thing learned as a step forwards, not sideways or backwards. No useless information. I think the fact that there are so many ways to learn about our world is as useful as it is special, and for that reason I see myself as a life long student.Communicator- Growing up with a speech impediment motivated me a great deal. I had the human desire to connect with others, joke and converse, but was unable to do so. As therapy took hold I didn't just learn to speak, I appreciated that I could. I still keep my old tools in my back pocket though, those alternative ways I used to make a point when I couldn't conjure a phrase. I am glad I do too, as I think it has given me a unique perspective on not just what a message is, but also how it is delivered, which is often more important.Creator- I make things. My father worked construction and instilled in me an admiration for something well made. In any role or community I find myself in I try to better it, which usually means making something to leave behind for someone else. I like to make stories, media, connections, impact- the list goes on but it all ties to the essence of creation. Love Legos too, so it seemed like a good fit.That's a little about me, overall I am someone who likes to know everything I can about something, make a resource for or about it, and then communicate it to others. I love pursing opportunities in areas I know little of or have little experience in, I come to appreciate what's transferable and what's not and I find a lot of personal growth in that process. Despite my many hobbies, interests, and jobs having little in common with each other, these basic principles of understanding, conveying, and constructing remain consistent and are a huge part of who I am.
