I am an Honours graduate of the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of Toronto majoring in Criminology, with minors in English and Sociology. I am also a Humber College Alumni from the post graduate program in Addictions and Mental Health. Through my studies I have acquired an array on knowledge on several topics and key factors such as: the legal justice system, the impact of socio-economic statuses, importance of familial and overall home/ life structure, mental health, and the necessity for social services in society. I have also received the opportunity to acquire knowledge on these subjects outside of the academic setting. This is through work study placements, conversations, and one-on-one meetings with people from different walks of life; from former convicts trying to start over to adults and youth dealing with financial struggle, mental health, or several other situations. As the president of a university club and associate member of the Student Union, I gained essential qualities during my 2 years of service. As a student, a student leader, and employee, possessing adaptability and interpersonal skills were root to my successes. In this I learned how to communicate, work independently and as a team with individuals of various positions and personalities. This included those such as: students and staff, sponsors, and external organizations. The ability to work under pressure, create independent problem-solving solutions, acknowledge different viewpoints to acquire a solution, and function with constantly shifting situations allowed me to thrive where others failed. During my previous years in the productions sector, being able to function as a team was ingrained into the work even while working as an individual. Attention to detail and time management were essential parts of the daily routine which, when working alongside peers, allowed for success in my role with the Student Union leading to multiple nominations and awards for our efforts.
