Quality Engineer and Management Representative for AS-9100:2016

Working to help prepare Kasai NA Corporate, all 9 Manufacturing facilities and 2 remote Design Centers to be certified to ISO 9001:2015/ IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System.

Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for external quality problem resolution along with the effects of those problems for internal and external containment activities.

Redeveloped and performed the TS-16949 Internal Audits in preparation to be ready for a successful Stage 1 Audit. Completed preparation for a successful GM/BIQS Audit.

Managed the ISO-9000 Quality Management Systems along with performing the Internal Audits for all processes. Work on Continual Improvement projects that I identified.

To work with assigned suppliers of aerospace parts to improve their quality and delivery to Rolls Royce requirements.

Worked on improving the TS-16949 QMS and the Ford Q1 Documentation required to regain the Q1. Redeveloped to Ford Standards the Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, 1st Pc Verification Sheets and Work Instructions. Also updated the previously mentioned for process improvement changes from: 2011 Internal Audit findings, corrective and preventive actions. Completed 2012 Internal Audit as Lead Auditor. Completed over 100 customer complaint corrective actions.

Work with client's opportunities to improve their quality of lighting in work areas, retail display areas and outdoor areas to name a few while focusing on energy savings. The objective is to add value to their areas that need the correct kind of light.

I was a Lighting Specialist Sales Engineer for Maintenance Engineering, LTD. I provided solutions for lighting problems that save energy, brighten areas where needed and adding value with the highest quality lighting products that offer a guarantee for length of service instead of a rating. There were many occasions that I was able to help clients with problems in other areas besides lighting.

Prepare company to be ready for certification to TS-16949:2002 Quality Management System tom do business as an automotive supplier.1. Prepared all documentation required to meet certification requirements2. Created corrective action process using a root cause analysis problem solving approach that stays active until solution is verified and has customer approval.3. Created a new training program using the 3-D (Discuss, Demonstrate & Do) methodology.4. Created new standardized work instructions for each job in the plant including the Quality Lab and Material Control department.5. Created operator certification process to support standardized work instructions for consistent product quality. 6. Trained group of Lead Operators to train anyone new to a job position (new hires or people moved to a different job in the plant).7. Investigated open customer complaints that were open for over a year that were causing customers to consider moving their business elsewhere. Corrected the problems with machined products for customer at 50% of business and saved it.8. Gained TS-16949:2002 certification for company.

Gained certification for ISO-9000:2000, QS-9000:1998 and TS-16949:2002 Quality Management Systems as a Lead Auditor to certify manufacturing suppliers in commercial and automotive industries working for a certified registrar from governing bodies ie: ANAB & AIAG/IAOB-IATF.Audited for certification and performed scheduled surveillance audits at over 450 supplier locations covering all of North America for the above mentioned Quality Management Systems.

Implemented several continuous improvement projects (ie: new transport conveyors to eliminate 4 operators saving $240K/YR; Redesigned tooling and eliminated 1 of 3 assembly lines saving $350K/YR; Revamped preventive maintenance activities that reduced downtime by 21% & reduced overtime by 11%; Managed equipment refurbishment and relocation of power window lift motor product line from New York facility to Juarez, Mexico facility and gained PPAP approval from all 8 GM facilities we shipped to gaining $5 million in annual savings.

Product line was optical encoder for motion control of servo motors.1. Customer complaints were through the roof. Worked with technicians for root cause and found the customer was installing incorrectly. I wrote new installation instructions with photos and eliminated 22% of customer returns.2. Designed new assembly fixtures that reduced assembly time by 25%, quality rejects by 11% and test failures by 9%.3. Implemented UV-curing adhesive to replace 2-part epoxy adhesive reducing lead time by 1-day, reducing assembly time by another 10% and reduced scrap by 43%.4. As buyer, reduced material costs from suppliers by $247,873 with $4 million in projected sales while creating win-win for both sides. I allowed them to schedule their production runs and delivery times at their convenience while we set up a kanban system holding the inventory at our facility and paid for it as we used the inventory.
