After 35 years working in the Fire and Rescue Service, a substantial proportion of which, I trained and worked as a specialist fire investigator, I studied for and was awarded a masters degree in Fire Investigation by the University of Central Lancashire.Since leaving the fire service in 2010, I have worked as an Investigator for IFIC Forensics, later Jensen Hughes, investigating fire cause in all parts of the UK, Republic of Ireland, Europe and the Middle East. I have also acted as an expert for a number of UK Fire and Rescue Services giving opinion in several civil litigation cases. I am an associate lecturer at The University of Central Lancashire and Manchester Metropolitan University and have provided fire investigation training to hundreds of people in various organisations such as fire services, Police and Crime Scene investigators, prison officers and from various parts of the insurance industry.I am a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers for whom acted until recently as an examiner for their international technical examinations. I am also a past President, Fellow and Life Member of the UK Association of Fire Investigators.
