The Head of Risk Measurement is a key advisor to the BAGL Head of Financial Risk and BAGL Treasury in respect of balance sheet management opportunities to drive financial performance, capital efficiency and the risk dynamics of each portfolio. Risk measurement operates where Risk, Finance and Treasury intersect and as such is a highly complex and technical role. It is a key relationship role with the individual BAGL businesses and Group Risk, as well as to the Finance function in communicating risk, capital and impairment trends. It is also central in communicating to and engaging with multiple regulators (PRA, SARB) and internal senior management (Group Risk, BU CEOs / CFOs) regarding capital demand, risk appetite and stress testing. Responsible for developing and executing the Risk Measurement strategic direction and build of world-class capabilities across RBB, CIB, WIMI and BAGL Group Risk including: Forecasting and stress testing - Accountable for leading risk and capital related forecasting capability development and risk inputs to Business Planning Cycles.- Direct and oversee stress testing. - Leading the communication of risk and capital trends with BAGL Exco and Board. Capital demand and optimization - Embedding the use of regulatory and economic capital by senior management in financial and capital planning, risk management, pricing and performance measurement to support the adopted risk appetite and delivery of the Group’s strategic objectives. - Lead collaboration with Risk teams to drive the optimisation of regulatory and economic capital where inefficiencies relating to data, process, methodologies and risk mitigation exist. Risk Appetite - Establish risk appetite linked to the BAGL’s short- and long-term strategic, capital, and financial plans, as well as compensation programs. - Ensure alignment of the overall risk appetite statement with the business lines, risk areas, and lower tolerance levels.

Responsible for:- Evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of the Credit Risk Frameworks and reporting on findings, stating any shortcomings identified and recommending corrective actions for deficiencies.- Aggregating, consolidating and analysing Credit Risk information and changes in the credit risk profile for Standard Bank Group and SBSA- Monitoring the use of credit risk limits risk tolerance levels and credit risk appetite, and ensuring that quantifiable risks are within the structure of approved limits.- Reporting of the aggregated Credit Risk exposure to senior management and appropriate governance committees.- Developing and implementing processes for projection and monitoring of credit risk exposures with follow up actions.- Creation and maintenance of a set of comprehensive and clear documentation including:- Standard Bank Group Credit Risk Management Standard and Supporting Methodologies.- Credit Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis Framework.- Reporting details on the outcome of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) as it relates to Credit Risk.- Performing oversight over credit risk economic capital (Moodys KMV Portfolio Manager and RiskFrontier) and stress testing models in conjunction with the Model Validation Specialists.- Presenting economic capital and stress testing methodologies and results to the SARB and Group Risk Committee.- Oversight of preparation and submission of Regulatory returns in respect of credit risk (BA200 series).
