For the past 18 years I have been in sales applying a consultative selling approach to fully understand the customer’s needs. I started off in the financial services sector cold calling and actively working referral business until finding a passion in media sales. I started with print magazine advertising sales and migrated to online advertising sales as the market evolved digitally, for the past 15 years my client base has been made up with clients from Agriculture, Construction & Mining and Transport sectors.My sales career progressed from business development / field sales executive where I grew the area output (revenue and customer numbers) by some years up to 68% YOY until I was offered an opportunity to lead the sales team and was tasked with national expansion and the role out of our various products to a new and exciting customer base. This team grew from 7 people to 24 people and obtained the distinction of being the only team within the company globally that showed 11.5% growth during the global financial crisis of 2008I then moved between various leading industry media houses / publishers where I was tasked with developing high performance sales teams whilst ensuring that customer experience when doing business, was of the highest quality. This was achieved through rep-role alignment, re-looking team culture, territory and market analysis, understanding the competitors, infield mentoring & coaching of the sales team to ensure targets were made and overachieved on.My career evolved to sales director where the core focus was turning around under performing sales teams as well as creating new products that we could enter the market with that would generate new revenue streams like E-Commerce that would disrupt the current status quo. In this role I had 5 sales teams each focusing on different commercial target markets and a staff compliment of 38. This role involved more leading, coaching and mentoring at management level.
