When ever a care home is short on staff I will be called in. While I am there I take all responsibilities of a carer. This include- My first step when going to a care home is to find where their policies and employee guidelines are and read through them. This will outline my responsibilities as a carer within that specific care home.- Treat the people under my care with the utmost respect, and give them the privacy they require at all times.- I assist in-house carers to provide individual care based on their care plan and have on some occasions have done it by myself.- Ensuring the Kitchen, cafeteria, hallways and bathroom are kept clean- Respond and assist the residents with anything they require- Walk around every hour ensuring everything is kept to a high standard- Any additional duties that can vary from care home to care homeDuring this work, I have seen how ageing, disability, incapacity and illness have an effect on a person well being and which is what pushed me to help in any way
