Derek Wright is an Assistant Chief at JBG SMITH. In this role, Derek provides a high level of customer service for both government & private tenants. He is also a strategic leader of a team to ensure the efficient operation & maintenance of all building systems.Derek is a qualified Senior Engineer and holds a DC 3rd Class Engineers License from the Government of the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Occupational and Professional Licensing Administration.Derek has 22 years of facility operations experience in the commercial real estate industry. Derek spent 6 years as a Tenant Service Center Operator with Vornado/Charles E. Smith where he remotely operated 80 commercial office properties & 20 residential properties utilizing a multitude of unique Energy Management Systems to include but not limited to Johnson Controls Metasys, Johnson Controls Extended Architecture, Johnson Controls Facility Explorer, Siemens Insight, Trane Tracer Summit, Capron, Computrols, & Allerton. Derek is also experienced in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to include Workspeed, Electronic Tenant Solutions (ETS), 360 Facility, & Maximo.Before joining the Vornado/Charles E. Smith Tenant Service Center, Derek spent his first 5 years in the trade at a main air handler steam induction property where he gained experience in the operation and maintenance of a centralized plant consisting of three 500 HP Cleaver Brooks fire tube boilers & four 2000 ton Carrier chillers while attending the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 99 Apprenticeship Program. Derek received his certificate of completion from the Apprenticeship Program as well as his DC 3rd Class Engineers License in 2006.
