Contractor to help with Data Center migration to Cisco Nexus platform. Worked on level 2 support issues.

Contracted by Insight Global to provide Network Engineering services remotely for Hewlett Packard and United/Continental Airlines. Responsible for the configuration of various Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. Completed over 100 MPLS circuit upgrades and/or new site installations for United Airlines wide area data network. Designed and currently deploying a United Airlines SHARES migration to new backbone firewalls/switches located in an HP owned data center in Charlotte, NC. Serves as 3rd level support for troubleshooting complex network problems. Coordinates appropriate connectivity requests. Provides weekly status reports and documentation for Project Managers.

Provided a network assessment of routers, switches, wireless access points, cell phone wireless repeaters, firewalls, voice systems such as PBX’s, in house wiring including CAT3, CAT5, and fiber. All data circuits were analyzed for performance statistics and high availability. Implemented Manage Engine OpManager SNMP tool which was used for fault management and performance monitoring/capacity planning. Responsible for the design of a new network core located at the corporate data center. The design included upgrading the current Cisco Pix 506E firewalls to Cisco ASA 5510’s with a DMZ/NAT architecture. Upgraded Web Marshal Proxy server with a Palo Alto anti-virus/malware\url filtering appliance. HP Procurve, Nortel, & Dell Powerconnect switches were upgraded with a Cisco 4510 chassis, Cisco 3750X series, and Cisco Nexus 5548 switches interconnecting at high availability 10 Gig. Designed and implemented the new 10 Gig core. Setup OSPF on new core. Implemented routing redistribution between RIPv2 and OSPF routing protocols so RIPv2 could eventually be phased out. Segmented core network using VLANS and created a new private ip scheme to replace current providing better scalability and security. Supported MPLS, Internet VPN connections, and all network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and voice systems for nineteen different VP plant locations across the United States.

Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of various networking technologies and solutions for HCA division-based facilities, remote clinics, and office buildings within the division to support enterprise applications such as Meditech, PACS, eMAR (Electronic Medication Administration Record) and barcoding system via wire and wireless connectivity. Assisted in setting up network connectivity for Nurse Call, Phillips, and GE telemetry systems. Worked consistently with BGP, OSPF, Muli-link PPP, Frame Relay, VPN’s, VLAN, 10 Gig Ethernet, Spanning Tree, MPLS, ATM, and MAN technologies. Assists in the diagnosis and resolution of the most complex network and security incidents and requests that require research and diagnosis, and recommends process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance and support of division and facility-based network equipment. Performance monitoring and capacity planning for over 250 hospitals/facilities. Use of tools such as Concord eHealth and NetScout nGenuis software to troubleshoot slow response issues as well as projecting and forecasting the upgrading/downgrading of HCA ATM & MPLS data circuits. System Administrator for the Cisco Wireless LAN Solution Engine managing over 5000 Aeronet Access Points. System administrator for Cisco Secure ACS used to manage AAA on Cisco network devices. Created HDIS and Division Engineer training curriculum for Wireless management and performance monitoring. Conduct technology assessments, create consulting packages, compile major equipment item costing lists and design general site drawings for various sized technology networks. Interact with all levels of client staff during consultations to attain specific needs across the total spectrum of the company. Manage engineering teams during design and implementation.Red Hat Project Related Accomplishments:Location: Nationwide Consulted as a Project Manager for AT&T Wireless Services. Managing an installation team providing AT&T remote access connectivity for management of all cellular services within Central Offices located throughout the United States.Location: Baltimore, MD Contracted to cut over four Bell Atlantic Frame Relay WAN sites consisting of 1000 Windows NT users. Assisted in designing three firewalls, OSPF, DNS, & ISDN failover for Bell Atlantic. Location: Washington, DC Completed IV & V assessment of the USDA network design strategy. Reviewed security documentation for the USDA in order to develop a strategy for performing a security risk assessment. Developed a hybrid firewall security model with both packet filtering and application-level features.Location: Norcross, GA.As Technology Consultant to the PVP for CheckFree Corporation, responsible for the successful assessment, design and implementation of Cisco routing and switching architectures in Norcross, GA.Location: Washington, DC Helped design and implement the USDA Agriculture Marketing Service AT&T to MCI Frame Relay Migration plan, which include 100 remote US sites.

While in Tampa, FL duties included Key customer contact for customer support in the post sale implementation of packet products and services (X.25, Frame Relay, SDLC, Async Dial), ATM, SprintLink and Managed Networks (Routers, FRADS, Etc.) and Life Cycle Support; ultimately responsible for problem identification and resolution.Providing post-installation with field engineering and customers to ensure customer’s data requirements are met. Working with customers to ensure applications function properly over the new network configuration; Assisting customer management, headquarters staff and field engineering in coordinating conversions which will ensure timely and well planned cutovers; Conducting post implementation reviews to include technical analysis with customer to ensure network integrity. Acted as key liaison between 115 system engineers & the Sprint IP organization. Developed an IP training technical manual consisting of IP troubleshooting procedures & statistical reporting using Concord eHealth for the system engineers.While located in Reston, VA duties included Implementation of Sprint IP services which includes installation & configuration of Cisco Routers and Domain Name Service for Sprint Internet/Intranet packet over sonet backbone & Sprint customer managed routers. Configured the following protocols: Border Gateway Protocol, RIP, OSPF, HDLC, PPP, Frame Relay, Token Ring, IPX, ATM, & Fast Ethernet.

Network Engineer duties included Responsible for the implementation & development of specific software via table building & hardware configurations associated with key USCG network elements. Physically installed network availability to numerous USCG sites, ex: Ordering correct circuit type, installing & configuring modems, cables, in-house wiring etc.,. Created an order entry system & updated this informational database. Administration of Prime computer & backup Sun Unix TCP/IP Administrator. Assisted is managing the U.S. Coast Guard Network Control Center. Provide in depth training to NCC network technicians.Site Manager duties included Responsible for managing nine I-Net employees and two GTE consultants within the Network ControlCenter for the U.S. Coast Guard. Job duties include: employee reviews, timecards, daily and monthlyreports which are submitted to USCG contracting officer, network management, and scheduling.

Monitored the IDCU network for the Veterans Administration using sophisticated Telenet software such as Telenet Diagnostic Tool 2, Colour Monitors, Tprf3 alarms, Line Down Monitors, & Line Quality Monitors to troubleshoot and maintain the stability of the network. Coordinated and assisted Field Engineers in the installation and maintenance of Sprint equipment in an x.25 Protocol Packet Switching Network. Performed system backups on both Prime and Vax systems. Working with various office applications such as Word Perfect, Windows & various communication packages. Additional duties include being a backup NSC Security Administrator in which I was responsible for helping maintain network security for the IDCU by using the Telenet Access Management System (TAMS) to allow user access to the network. Troubleshooting any inconsistency that is detected by TAMS resources on the Prime systems and also utilizes tools located on the VAX/VMS. Controlling user access to the Telemanagement Information System (TIS) on the VAX/VMS. Responsible for recovering or installing TAMS in case of system failure.
