- I wrote the image management tools (MIBE, build_smartos, build_kvm, Jenkins) we used to create hundreds of images across all of our container platforms: Solaris Zones, KVM, and Docker. This was a complete build environment in bash scripting wrapped around Jenkins / Serverspec to build, test, deploy images to our Cloud. - Designed all of the application images throughout the Joyent Cloud: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Percona, MongoDB, Brocade, Ghost, Java, Nginx, Node.JS, Redis, Apache, Cassandra, Alpine, CentOS, Couchbase, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows Server, OpenBSD, and FreeBSD.- Created the Smtools PKGSRC package we used to help customers with VMs. This was a collection of tools to report information, tune, debug, and manage databases (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).- Authored the documentation for all SmartOS, KVM / Linux based images.- Worked with mounting ZFS / NFS based storage on customers VMs and snapshot management.- Created the ‘dtracetools’ package for SmartOS which consisted of DTrace scripts to help diagnose, tune performance issues.- Performance tuned hundreds of MySQL databases, replicated setups, clusters of high end clients such as Twitter, Gilt, LinkedIn. I wrote the MySQLDTraceTookit to do so.- Built the mysqlgauge tool (A sysbench-parallel harness) used to measure MySQL performance across VMs (on GitHub).- Created the partnership with Percona MySQL / Joyent, and became a performance expert in this area having tuned VM images for Percona and creating “quickbackup” utilities / services for percona-xtrabackup.- Replicated and clustered MySQL setups for high end clients. I wrote scripts to make this automated.- Implemented SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) across the Support, Engineering teams that helped standardize routine tasks for customers.- Provided customer support using ZenDesk and JIRA with ticket resolution and on call rotation.
