About Derek Braun

I am a software engineer with 5+ years of industry experience, specializing in robotics and automated systems. Currently I am working at Bright Autonomy, which is an innovative startup in Calgary with the mission of revolutionizing the golf landscaping industry by removing the need for individual manual control of mowers and similar machinery in favour of automation. We work to create a generic platform that can retrofit existing machinery with autonomous functionality with minimal modifications. This allows a single operator to supervise a fleet of several machines and intervene with low-latency remote operation when the need arises.In my current role I work on developing cutting edge navigation and control systems for these machines. I have significant experience in C++, and Python, with practical skills using popular libraries like Qt, OpenGL, Tensorflow.
