Organic food production, supply chains, strategy development and governance based on 35 years as a lawyer in private practice and 30 years of organic farm development and environmental activism. I chaired The Quota Appeal Authority, an independent quasi judicial tribunal, under the sustainable fisheries Quota Management System for 8 years. I was an early Director of the Environmental Defence Society and have also chaired New Zealand's leading Organic Certifier, BioGro and the peak organic sector umbrella body, OANZ. I have been chair or a director of several private organic providers and grass roots organisations. Over a period of 30 years my wife Roz and I developed a bare 20 acre piece of land in the Wairarapa into a thriving organic mixed farm. Cerified by BioGro for the last 10 years or so we produced apples, juice, garlic and market garden vegetables commercially and were largely self sufficient.I see regenerative, sustainable organic farming as the foundation on which we can restore our natural environment, increase biodiversity, reverse climate change and provide healthy nutritious food. Currently I work as a consultant with Ceres Organics Limited developing strong relationsips with primary producers building supply chains and developing infrastructure to grow the NZ organic base. I also work with a small group of leading organic and sustainable business enterprises to raise awareness of organics amongst consumers.
