As a Code Sensei, I am able to help kids from the age of 5-14 years old learn how to code. At Code Ninjas, kids are able to walk-in at anytime and spend an hour or two going through our coding curriculum, (which now includes drones, robotics, and 3-D printing!) and they will get a break or two during that time. My job is to make sure that they are engaged, learning, and having fun. In order to accomplish that, I have to be able to match or exceed the kids’ level of enthusiasm and I have to be able to read and react to different situations to help the kids. For example, if a kid is feeling down or upset I will make sure that he plays a big part in the next game we play, or rig the game in his favor, or just get super excited about the next project he completes. I have also learned how to make kids focus, make something engaging, and just how to teach and explain things.

As a Hotel Receptionist, I mainly check guests in/out of the hotel, offer a friendly “Hi, how are you?” to guests walking around, deal with any issues that arise, and clean/maintain the lobby. In addition to that I run/maintain a gift shop by restocking it and handle any transactions that occur. I will also count the cash register at the beginning and end of my shift, answer the phone, create reservations, organize the front desk, sweep/mop the lobby, restock complimentary coffee, sugar, creamer, water, cups, etc., and I will make any accommodations for the guests. In the past I have carried their luggage, given them a refund, called the cops, fetched people ice, and even shoveled snow from someone’s car to their room side entrance.
