During tenure approximately $400 Million CDN was spent advancing the Mary River Project.

Broad areas of responsibility included environmental and sustainability strategy, regional issues management, stakeholder relations, and Company stewardship.

Accountable as Office Manager to promote and facilitate regional growth of the company in accordance with the business plan, to mentor junior staff, and to coordinate the administrative and financial functions required in support of an office setting. Acted as an Owners Representative and Project Manager under a national assignment with Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) to manage their Environmental Accrual Program and was accountable to manage two high-profile liabilities in the City of Calgary with impacts extending to off-site properties and parties.

Joined BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. during the transition phase from construction to operation of Canada’s first diamond mine. Responsibilities to develop, implement, and manage environmental programs; to provide technical advice to operating departments at the mine; and to liaise with project stakeholders including the general public, aboriginal organizations, and government to address environmental issues.

Responsible during a period of mine expansion to ensure that all needed approvals for any new, or revisions to existing permits, licenses, authorizations, etc. were obtained from all levels of government. Acted as the primary point of contact and liaison with various co-management boards and regulators throughout the approvals process. Worked with the departments of the mine and external consultants to generate information required to support approvals. Stewarded to the Environmental Agreement and the relationship with the Independent Environmental Monitoring Agency established under the Agreement. Developed and maintained a cost center budget in excess of $3M annually for this position and was the primary contact between Ekati and (corporate) BHP Billiton for the environment function of the mining operation.

Reporting to a senior associate, responsibilities included the planning, conceptual design, final design, commissioning and troubleshooting of process related projects.
