As an Information Systems Security Officer, I work closely with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to design, develop, integrate, and analyze information systems for the USAF Aerial Targets program. My main responsibilities are overseeing the cyber security posture of multiple information systems, with a focus on implementing, mitigating, and maintaining cyber security standards in compliance with NIST 800-53, AFI17-101, and DoDI 8510 Risk Management Framework (RMF) directives/instructions.. This involves conducting routine system audits, vulnerability scans, and SCAP compliance checks throughout the system lifecycle.I am responsible for supporting the development and implementation of security policies and procedures required for assessment and authorization activities. I also identify, develop, and recommend security measures to address system vulnerabilities and risks.In addition, I am responsible for managing Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) tracking and compliance utilizing eMASS, as well as performing Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) compliance audits. I work closely with system owners and stakeholders to ensure that appropriate authorization and accreditation artifacts are developed to support system authorization.Relevant tools that I use include eMASS, Tenable Security Center, Tenable Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Checker, and STIG viewer.

Bolster Defense cyber security as a senior member of the Compliance and Risk Assessment Mitigation Team (RAMT) by assisting United States Air Force (USAF) sites with meeting applicable cyber security standards for Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS) within the established standards of NIST 800-53, AFI17-101, and DoDI 8510 Risk Management Framework (RMF) directives/instructions. Appointed by the Security Control Assessor (SCA) to a Security Control Assessor Representative (SCAR) role where I assist in the validation of the security controls within eMASS. Guide Information System Security Officers (ISSO) through the RMF process and assist in obtaining system authorization (ATO) from the Approval Authority (AO). Advise ISSO on standards and offer suggestions for meeting those standards. Use Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) SCAP tools to scan system operating systems and suggest changes of configurations to Information System Security Managers (ISSM) to achieve the highest possible compliance score without sacrificing system functionality. Ensure Compliance Team and RAMT is using most recent tools and security guides. Assist ISSO with entering systems into eMASS, drafting required System Security Plans (SSP), Configuration Management Plans (CMP), Incident Response Plans (IRP), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) & integration to CS IT systems, Hardware/Software lists, topologies, gathering required artifacts, and drafting POA&Ms for identified deficiencies. Direct ISSOs assigned at all base locations through any questions and roadblocks that may arise to ensure they complete their mission and gain an ATO for their respective FRCSs.Successful contributions in this role were:• Received Certificate of Commendation for efforts in achieving first FRCS ATO on contract.• Effectively trained over fifty ISSOs across various USAF sites in RMF, how to utilize eMASS, and MS Visio.• Consistently achieve and receive positive feedback to management from ISSOs.
