During my term I was fortunate enough to be involved in a variety of projects and tests within the Environmental Initiatives group. I managed a series mercury capture tests using specialized test equipment, assisted in performing particulate sampling tests at the Carbon Capture Test Facility, and performed data analysis on a number of projects using PI processbook. This work term gave me excellent exposure to performing large scale testing and the issues associated with testing, a stronger understanding of the emissions created by coal fired power plants and the controls used to manage those emissions and an opportunity to interact and work with both operations and mechanical staff at a number of power stations. I worked as an Engineering Assistant for Enbridge Pipeline’s Regional Services and Development team for my second and third work term. During my term I performed many tasks including project management, capital budget development, assisting regional operation engineers with various projects. This position exposed me to the project management side of engineering, including proper time management, organization, accountability and contact development. This position helped me to gain an… Show more I worked as an Engineering Assistant for Enbridge Pipeline’s Regional Services and Development team for my second and third work term. During my term I performed many tasks including project management, capital budget development, assisting regional operation engineers with various projects. This position exposed me to the project management side of engineering, including proper time management, organization, accountability and contact development. This position helped me to gain an understanding of how liquids pipelines are operated and maintained, as well as helped me to become an even more safety conscious employee. Working closely with design consultants gave me the ability to become proficient in reviewing design standards and reviewing drawings before being issues for construction. During my third term I was assigned a fairly significant project which I worked on from design to construction. Show less

I was fortunate enough to do pipeline corrosion surveying, natural gas leak detection, cathodic protection surveying and cathodic protection system design. These positions gave me great exposure to the petroleum and natural gas industry, skills necessary to complete surveys properly and experience working on a professional design project. I worked as an Engineering Assistant for the City of Regina’s Roadways Preservation department for the summer of 2013. While working there I spent my time doing road surveying, asphalt testing, design corrections and monitoring various contractor’s work. This position not only taught me many useful engineering practices, but also allowed me to be independent, and create good working relationships with outside contractors and other employees.
