Derek Tynan, a Senior Engineer with OLA Consulting Engineers, contributed to a pilot program on Energy Auditing for New York City buildings, leading to the formation of Local Law 87-09. He also served six years on the board of the Building Commissioning Association Northeast Chapter where he helped coordinate an annual summit on building commissioning over the past eight years and was president of the chapter in 22’ and 23’. Mr. Tynan is currently the Immediate Past President of the BCxA Northeast Chapter. Some of the most notable agencies that he helped steer to provide best practice presentations on building commissioning include Utilities, Offices of Sustainability's, State Code Officials and various other service and software providers.He is an accomplished Mechanical Engineer experienced in planning and execution of commissioning, energy auditing, and energy analysis services for new and existing buildings. Managed multiple new construction and existing building commissioning projects, LEED administration, and Energy Services. He's provided steam trap, compressed air leakage, and boiler combustion analysis services. Was responsible for the planning and execution of projects totaling over 6,000,000+ square feet for several types of facilities, including critical space, hospitals, lab space, transportation, higher education, cultural, commercial, and other mixed used facilities.He has experience providing commissioning services for the following system types: Building Envelope, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, Fire Alarm, Life Safety, Emergency Power, Standby Power, Security, Vertical Transportation, and integrated systems.- He is gaining exposure with Process Loads.- For AV he looks to professionals from the Association for Quality in Audiovisual Technology (AQAV)- For cyber security he looks to Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Mr. Tynan's interests: Mission Critical.
