Behavior Specialist/Special Education Teacher

- Plans, organizes, and conducts daily classroom activities in a variety of subjects as required by expelled students’ Individualized Education Plans, under the supervision of a Highly Qualified Special Education teacher- Implements classroom management, including taking initiative to proactively manage negative behaviors in creative and effective ways- Models appropriate social behaviors, strong communication skills, and a positive outlook at all times for students in various settings and situations- Creates and implements individualized special programming for unique students in exceptional circumstances, including interdepartmental collaboration, training of paraprofessionals, documentation, and various extended duties- Assists/substitutes at other GLASS programs throughout the Greater Lafayette area as needed- Frequently collaborates with various other GLASS and Lafayette School Corporation departments, including the Job Coaches, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Autism Specialists, etc.- Maintains current certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)- Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification
