Hello, I am a senior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. My major is Civil Engineering with a focus in environmental and sustainable design. I plan to graduate in December 2024. I grew up in Knoxville, TN, and my hobbies include playing tennis and cooking. During the summer of 2022, I was fortunate enough to be selected to intern with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. I interned with the Region 1 Design Department where I learned a lot about the phases of transportation development and how Civil Engineering is applied to them. This being my first internship, I was able to see and understand the importance of communication and professional conduct as well as how each department at TDOT works together to complete projects. Along with working on my own projects and helping out around the Design office, I was able to shadow other departments and visit multiple project sites. I ended the summer with a multitude of valuable career-related experience and meaningful connections which will absolutely help me in the future.I've spent the last couple summers interning with Kimley-Horn's Downtown Chicago office, working with their renewable energy team as a production engineer. I've gained a lot of knowledge regarding 2D and 3D design as well as the business side of engineering.
