I teach graphic design, photography, video, and anything else under the umbrella of digital art.

I taught Visual Communication in the Media and Typography to students seeking a BA in graphic design.Methods of instruction include Adobe software demonstrations, lectures on beginning and advanced typography, and discussions on ethics in media.

As an instructor at Old Dominion University, I currently teach Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I am required to build a course that creates sound fundamental lessons while simultaneously pushing creative boundaries. In addition to teaching Adobe applications, I also teach darkroom photography. This course requires me to instruct students on the exposure triangle as it pertains to film, how to use a SLR film camera, and how to print in a traditional darkroom.

I was responsible graphic design projects including layout, social media, and typography. This position required me to meet routine deadlines while still creating eye-catching content. I worked alone and as a part of a team to see projects to fruition.

While working as a full time instructor for the Art Institute of Virginia Beach, I taught courses ranging from foundational to advanced levels. These courses included Photographic Principles, Photographic Design, Digital Darkroom, Studio Photography, Editorial Photography, and Portfolio & Marketing. I also built several courses from scratch including Graphic Design For Photographers and Social Media For Photographers. As the lead instructor in the photography department I was often required to monitor institutional effectiveness and (QEP) quality enhancement plans.

My role as an adjunct instructor at Thomas Nelson Community College allowed me to gain valuable experience teaching studio lighting and post-production courses. I also taught business of photography courses online and utilized learning management systems for onsite and online courses.

While working as a Digital Imaging artist for Donning Company Publishers, I retouched, repaired, and enhanced images for print. My role required me to use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop on a daily basis while ensuring preflight, post-production, and layout standards for commercial printing.

As a Digital Photography Instructor for Virginia Commonwealth University, I taught distance learning courses to graduate students. I taught intro and intermediate digital photography including digital capture and post-production. As a distance learning instructor I used a hybrid of onsite lectures and learning management systems to facilitate instruction. I also helped students with selecting images for their final graduate portfolios.

As a Field Research Photographer for CoStar Group, I canvassed the Hampton Roads area and photographed commercial real estate. I used high-end DSLR cameras to capture still images and create 360 degree views. I edited an average of 25 images per day while using Adobe Photoshop.
