Managing a team of 6 direct reports and up to 10 engineers to provide network connectivity in a critical, financial data centre environment. Ensuring that client and employee expectations are met and exceeded in providing a quality service throughout the project lifecycle. Installation, termination and testing of an ITT Cannon voice and data network which included Cat 6 and fibre optic connectivity for a large financial client. Installation of active equipment including switches, servers and routers. Patching of all voice and data including the installation and commissioning of Scotland’s first ‘iTRACS’ (www.itracs.com) intelligent cable management system.

Managing and controlling all elements of a customer support helpdesk. Responsible for monitoring customer Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) as well as monthly financial and Key Performance Indicator reporting. Reporting and monitoring helpdesk performance in relation to internal SLA’s (Remedy) including procedure formulation and improvement.

Providing 1st and 2nd line network support for a range of ISP, ASP and Telecoms bandwidth providers. Monitoring, responding and providing fault resolution via Remedy helpdesk system to meet customer SLA’s. Installation of racks, servers, routers and related infrastructure. Installation, testing and maintenance of fibre and copper circuits. Remote hands tasks including router/switch configuration, server configuration, server backups and fault resolution. Internal network maintenance and administration.Knowledge of TCP/IP, WAN/LAN, ADSL, SDH, ISDN, Cisco IOS, Microsoft Windows administration (NT, 2000, XP) and pc and printer hardware installation and repair. Possess good working knowledge of UPS power systems and other datacentre infrastructure including HVAC, fire detection and fire suppression.
