Passenger Services Manager Performance

Terminal 4

The easiest way to explain this role is keeping a finger on the pulse of T4's Terminal operations. Looking for and delivering improvements in the passenger journey and increasing efficiency throughout the workforce and their processes. Having been a PEM at T4 for 4 years at the forefront of helping our passengers through their various departure/arrival and connection journeys has greatly helped me settle into this role with ease - it just feels natural. I also work very closely with our stakeholders and suppliers, especially the Airlines and their ground agents and our colleagues in Border Force. Long may it continueUnfortunately due to the CV19 situation and the resultant resructure of HAL due to having to reduce staff costs my role was made redundant in May/June 2020. It was time to take voluntary redundancy and see what the future brings.I am now a freelancer that is available for any project work either within the Cargo or Terminal Passenger environments.I may well resurrect my former Project Managing Role under OMPTIMA .... by all means make contact my rates will be reasonable

Passenger Experience Manager - Pem

Terminal 4

I see this role as being able to notice anything that is not just quite right and sorting that our before our passengers notice. It is after all their experience of Heathrow and our Terminal that is at the forefront of this role. We work in 4 main areas within Terminal 4 namely Landside Departures - Landside Arrivals - Airside Departures and Airside Arrivals and every area has its own challenges and rewards. We are also incident managers with fire and ambulance at the forefront but disorderly behaviour and the just unusual where Police involvement may or may not be required. I always say every day is the same old problems but with different faces. Great job.

Director

Optima - Personalised Cargo Logistics

Windsor

I created Optima to try to offer my Lufthansa developed experience to other Cargo Logistics companies and Airlines. My first 3 tenders were for Gillette in Boston, SAS Cargo Copenhagen Denmark and Union Air Transport (Cool Logistics solutions for India to Europe) All 3 were really interesting and offered great personal challenges but I could only work for one full time and SAS Cargo won the day. I started a 3-year tender in January 2004 almost 8 months after leaving Lufthansa. It was to help them develop and introduce a new Express Cargo solution for Europe and then to roll this out worldwide. The SAS model was to find suitable local Courier Agents and bring them on board to help develop and sell a new customer required service that suited their market strategy. We designed a variety of choice for their intended customers with solutions for Airport to Airport, Door to Door, Door to Airport, Airport to Door and even Agent to Agent. After completing this project I went on to help a local UK Couriers develop their services within Europe, and a Dutch-based company to tender for developing an Express Courier service for Saudi Arabian Airlines. During this time and to work in between projects I used my IT development skills to start an IT/PC Training and Repair solution where I would help customers develop their IT knowledge or repair/install computer systems. I also used to teach older people at the local school to ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) level.

Various - From Cargo Agent To Cargo Logistics Project Manager

Heathrow And Frankfurt

I started Lufthansa at the age of 18 as a Cargo Clerk. I rose through the ranks of Senior Agent to Supervisor then Cargo Operations Supervisor before being promoted into Cargo Management during the mid-to-late '70s. I have held the position of Cargo Training Manager UK and then the Cargo Operations Manager to run the amalgamated unit of 130 staff. From here my career developed into Cargo Sales as Express Cargo Development Manager UK. One of my most interesting challenges was to be asked to represent Lufthansa in the new Cargo Star Alliance development team along with the other founder members namely SAS, United, Thai, Varig, and Air Canada to look at ways and ideas on how to help each airline build relationships and joint services. I was later headhunted and offered the position of Country Manager UK for South African Airways which I originally accepted but Head Office Frankfurt counter-offered me a new position at HQ as a Key Industry Development Manager mainly responsible for developing relationships with Key Industry customers over the 7 core Key Industries our company had identified as future growth areas. I accepted this great new challenge and my career between Frankfurt and Heathrow flourished as I became a Project and Product Development Manager working alongside key brands such as Nokia, Motorola, Intel, Mercedes, BMW, Samsung, Acer to name but a few. I was also lucky to be involved in the development of the newly designed logistic tool - the SLD (Standardized Loading Device) and took on the responsibility along with a small specially selected team to help develop and instigate this product into Lufthansa Cargo and its high valued customers. By 2002 we had developed key solutions for the industries of Semiconductors, Pharmaceuticals, vehicles, Fashion, and Electronics (i.e. Mobile Phones and IT products). In 2003 the Company took a different direction with their logistic prowess and I decided to take early retirement to try new challenges.
