As a Public Safety Dispatcher, I answer emergency and non-emergency telephone calls primarily for the agency’s service area but also assist the county’s primary PSAP when they have an increased call volume. I monitor three primary channels for my agency and three secondary channels for the county’s primary PSAP. I obtain information from each caller, prioritize said information, and dispatch via radio the appropriate agencies to handle the reported situation. In my position, I monitor radio traffic from responders to assist them with any additional information they require or to assist with contacting any additional resources they may need. During my tenure, I have been assigned to creating and implementing Communications Center policy and procedure to improve the quality of service provided to the community. I have also been assigned to training newly hired employees in the Communications Center. Most recently I have been assigned the additional duties of assisting the Accreditation Manager with preparing documentation for reaccreditation. I maintain my Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Medical Dispatch - Quality Assurance (ED-Q), VCIN Operator - Limited Access, and VCIN Terminal Agency Coordinator certifications. I have furthered my training with online courses focused on Public Safety, most recently receiving my Peer Support certification.

In addition to everyday duties of a Public Safety Communications Officer, as the Training Coordinator, I was tasked with revising the ECC's training program and implementing the changes as new equipment or policies were introduced to the center. I assisted other Training Officers with enhancing the program's effectiveness. I ensured that the new communications employees received the support and knowledge required to be successful in the ECC. This position also allowed me to ensure that employees were receiving continued education and support by way of in-person training or training through online formats. I maintained record of employee training and expiration dates to ensure that everyone was up-to-date on their required certifications.I was also tasked with VCIN Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) and VCIN Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) duties, which included coordinating employee initial certification and recertification. These positions also included ensuring that all vendors and county personnel received the required training prior to being allowed access to the center. I assisted with ensuring that all entries into the VCIN/NCIC system met the standards prescribed by policy and assisted employees when the entries needed to be corrected.I was also tasked with staff scheduling, which allowed me to introduce an app that allowed myself and the Emergency Services Coordinator to push out schedule updates immediately. The app also allowed request for immediate coverage to be sent to all employees at once. Employees could also request time-off for approval through the app.To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the ECC, I was tasked with writing policy and implementing said policy once proper approval was received. The policy manual included best practices for dispatching Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement agencies to calls and how to handle certain calls. I was also assigned to the CAD build team and once complete, created a handbook for all users.

As the Security Manager, I was tasked with overseeing the security team's operations. I met with client representatives to ensure the tasks assigned and agreed upon in the contracts were being completed to the client's expectations. During my tenure, I created policies and procedures for the team based on the needs and requests of the client. I trained each security team member on my home site, to ensure they understood what was expected of them at all times. I was also assigned to the Virginia Contract Startup Team, which allowed me to travel to other parts of the state and meet with clients to ensure that their expectations were clearly understood before placement of security personnel. I assisted with panel interviews, background checks, and new hire training. I also created and implemented policies and procedures for each contract site, based on the needs and expectations of the client
