Derek worked for the NHS for 33 years and also has 16 years' additional experience in various public and commercial organisations. Over half of his career has been spent working at leadership level.He became the Managing Director of Staffordshire and Lancashire Commissioning Support Units (CSUs) in October 2012.Derek has strong experience in many areas, including leadership, service transformation, change management and finance.As Finance Director of Northern Birmingham Mental Health NHS Trust in the late 1990s, he delivered the then largest new build project in mental health services.Later, as Chief Executive he led the trust's continued transformation of services and merger with its South Birmingham counterpart.He went on to work in the commercial sector before re-joining the NHS in 2008Derek is a passionate believer in the potential of CSUs to improve health and well-being working in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups, STPs and emerging ACS’
