As TXU Energy’s Digital and CRM IT Director, Derek Klein managed the company’s front line customer facing applications including web, mobile, SAP CRM, Salesforce, IVR and voice solutions with a continuous focus on enhancing the customer experience and driving long-term growth. During Derek's tenure at TXU Energy, he has lead a complete overhaul and update of the company’s customer facing web and mobile services, improving customer satisfaction by 10 points and site performance by over 65%. Additionally, Derek has significantly expanded the adoption of cloud CRM services (SalesForce.com), tripling the user base to over half of the company’s employees and streamlining customer service, sales and quoting processes.

As the Strategy and Quality Assurance IT Director, Derek Klein managed and facilitated the development of the company's IT strategy, enterprise architecture, quality assurance and innovation programs. Responsibilities included:Architecture – Development of the technical roadmap defining and setting the direction of the overall IT platform for EFH, Luminant, and TXU Energy. The roadmap aligned the needs of EFH, Luminant, and TXU while incorporating and leveraging new technologies to drive an optimal operating environment. Quality Assurance – Defined, developed and managed the enterprise IT quality assurance strategy which included the planning and execution for all systems (applications and infrastructure) supporting EFH, Luminant, and TXU Energy. Setup and managed a new Testing Center of Excellence. Continuously drove improvement in IT service delivery through quality assurance management processes and minimizing impact to the business from IT change management (application releases and maintenance windows). Strategy – Responsible for facilitating the development of the overall strategic framework and the annual IT strategy, ensuring alignment to the strategic objectives, priorities, and initiatives for EFH, Luminant, and TXU Energy. Innovation – Drove technical innovation with vendors and the internal organization through the evaluation and assimilation of new technologies. Deployed an ideation program and toolset that effectively incubated innovation across the IT organization; in one campaign, ideas generated lead to over $5 million dollars in annual operational savings.
